Jordan Russell reported

You heard correctly, when I first saw that collision happen, it was a free kick in my eyes and nothing more. But Russell has been reported for that, even though both players slid in for the ball on the wet turf.

As I said on the Port v Carlton match thread

What rubbish, wasn't intentional, both players down low going for the ball, accidental...

Port medical people should be reported for the treatment they gave him.....

Just watched the reply, and the commentators upon viewing the replay said the same, he was low, going for the ball
had a knee on the turf, and no intention for the body just the ball....

If he gets a game, the the whole fabric of footy will have changed for the worse.....

Ah, didn't see that comment. But I believe it deserves a thread of its own because he even gets 1 game, in black and white (no puns), the game at least at AFL level will turn into basketball for good.

Jordan Russell shouldn't be reported....

The entire Port Power medical team should be...

Potential serious neck injury and they are trying to get a bloke to his feet - these blokes should be SACKED!!!!!!

I'm not a Russell fan, but realistically he should not get a game for that clash. I think he has a decent defence, wet, both players slid. Reckless perhaps and that will be the only thing that goes against him.

Goodes got reported I heard?!

i hope not Thiele it was a good football collision. the one thing that doesnt look good for jordan was stewart left the ground on a stretcher and the AFL dont want head high contact in the game. but for mine i would like to see the lad get off.

this is how the match review panel saw it:

The match day report against Carlton's Jordan Russell was assessed. Russell was reported for making forceful contact from front-on against Port Adelaide's Paul Stewart during the fourth quarter. It was the view of the panel that while it was unfortunate high contact was made, resulting in Stewart having to be assisted from the ground, Russell had no real alternative way to contest the ball

There was nothing in it whatsoever, he should have never been reported in the first place, it was wet and slippery and looked worse than what it actually was.

That's right, that's common sense he got off. And thankfully Stewart is ok.

since when did common sense and the AFL go hand in hand? I can see a special AFL commission start immediately into common sense creeping into anything AFL related. Just not on in my opinion.
