Well that sucked. Full marks to the Pies, far too good on the night. They simply tackled us out of the contest. If other sides are studying 'the video' make sure you do your tackling drills. Fortunately for Geelong, not every side in the AFL can tackle as well as Collingwood. Geelong haven't been in tip top shape this year and that hiding might just wake us up a bit. There was nothing I saw in tonight's game that has lessened my respect for Mick Malthouse. He has shut down Geelong teams since the Blight era so it's not a fluke.
There's a few Cats that could do with a spell I reckon. Matty Stokes, as much as I love the little fella is nowhere near it at the moment. There is no way he is working even close to hard enough for mine. We need our small forwards to hold the ball in the 50 and none of them are doing that this season but Stokes has probably been the worst offender.
Young Hawkins could do with a spell. Remember boys and girls he is just 19 years old and a week off wouldn't hurt. Let him scare the 5hit out of some VFL backmen for a couple of weeks. His second efforts have evaporated in recent matches. Taylor was out of his depth against Cloke who just took mark after mark but even Matty Egan struggled against Cloke who seems to hurt us quite often, but not as often as that darned Didak. It would be an interesting excersise to compare Didak's career records vs his stats vs. Geelong.
Blakey tried hard tonight but it simply not a number one ruckman. He may become so in time but right now it's hard work for our midfield continually trying to shark the ball out of a losing ruck. Steve Johnson is having a dog of a season...maybe it's time we got him back on the sauce.
Collingwood's excellent tackling was the key to tonight's thumping as Geelong were never instinctive and this gave the Pies a better chance of having those tackles rewarded with a free kick. Collingwood far too good. Nuff said.
regards,
REB

It wasn't OUCH as far as i'm concerned, i thought it was magnificent, collingwood proved they can match the best tonight with sheer strength & aggression at the body, that resulted in regular turnovers & more importantly goals, if only they could play that brand of footy week in week out.

On last night's form we would have lost to anyone but Collingwood forced us to play so poorly through relentless pressure.

The question has to be asked....
Are Geelong imploding??
Are Collingwood the real deal??

Great win by the Pies, it shows we are capable of playing very good football.
We do have a very good record against Geelong at night at the G, but last night wasn't about the past.
Hey, one win doesn't maketh a Premiership favourite, but would instill some confidence in us 'Woods supporters that we're not just making up the numbers.
Also, does this now suggest that Hawthorn are the team to beat this year, or that any of the top 8 can win, as long as they come switched on & ready to play?

Something's not right with the Cats in 2008 and Thompson needs to get it sorted quickly because other teams are looking hungrier.
Sure, they have only lost 1 game but where have the huge scores and huge winning margins gone all of a sudden?
If you keep giving your opponent 5-10 goal starts eventually you will come a cropper. They are lucky they haven't lost a couple more games really.
A great side in need of a huge wake up call, maybe they got it last night.
Well done Pies .....

Collingwoods game plan last night was perfectly executed against Geelong - Very well done to Mick Malthouse ( Who i think is the best AFL Coach ) and his side !!!

Ive said for the last 12 months Collingwood are the clearly the 2nd best side in the competition(before the Hawks resurgance), Port supporters tried to tell me otherwise.

collingwoods consistency still might be an issue. we all know there young and have talent and play 15+ home games a year but there are still the worrying losses that no one can explain (e.g. carlton earlier this year)full plaudits to malthouse for a great game plan but they need to follow it up with a real strong month to prove it wasn't a flash in the pan.

Wow - what a win.
Twas an exciting night watching the Pies dismantle the reigning premiers.
Easily made up for the bottle of red I dropped in the driveway!
Nothing to get too cocky about just yet though.
Injuries and consistency are our problem.

So one win against your mob makes em second best???.........well if thats the case Collingwood have only themselves to blame for under achieving.....
the "Wobble"s are probably the most unreliable teams in the AFL.....a mantle that was held by Geelong for many years of inconsistancy, poor, insipid performances etc......sure you guys won last year and won well, but anyone would think your the next dynasty in Footy eg Brisbane Lions (three flags)
four grand finals................now thats a dynasty!! and until you blokes have achieved anything like it dont rate yourselves up with the greats coz for many many many years you where crap and nothing more than an AFL/VFL whipping boy only there to make up numbers.........
now thats a fact....like it or not!!!.....

Yes - I am hoping Neil Craig had someone at the match taking notes for future reference.
Collingwood have clearly worked out how to tackle the Cats, whether or not they can match other teams.

No not just won win, I did mention Ive said it for the last 12 months, not the last 12 hours.
The game mid season last year against a full season Geelong was a close affair and they could easily have knocked off a near full strength Geelong in the Prelim last year when losing by less than a kick.

So the 2nd best team in the comp is 15 goals better than the so called best
Surely good teams never, never get thumped by 15 goals

Geelong played shite simple as that. Geelong was bound to lose sooner or later and i was glad it was last night the bubble has burst.
