Josh Hill

Talk on the national game

Josh Hill

Postby Rushby Hinds » Tue Apr 08, 2008 10:02 am

I've watched the first three games on the TV, and honestly, i don't think i've been this excited about a junior player since....since....since forever!

I'll go completely on a ludicrous path, forget the Rising Star, I'm calling Brownlow (one day)

Absolute freak.
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

With the talk of the Rising Star on other threads I thought Hill all the way also, talk about standing up out on the field, he's playing like a 200 gamer.

Blimey Rushby aren't you a happy little pup these days?

The kid looks a special that's for sure but he's going to have some competetion for the rising star, it's a fair old crop this year. Rhys Palmer from Freo is a young kid with excellent disposal, I like the way he goes about his business. He'll have a bumper year for the Dockers with Haselby out of the frame and that particular club crying out for a bit more legspeed. Our own Tom Hawkins is starting to display that some of the hype about the young tank might just be justified after all. He was brilliant against Melbourne hauling down some great contested grabs as well as showing some fantastic kicking skills. Young McKay of Adelaide also looks an accomplished young player and then there is Matty Kruezer of Carlton who looks way more mature than he was supposed to be at this age. Cyril Rioli is another young player who is destined for great things at the highest level and Austin Wonemerri (no doubt spelt incorrectly) had a fine debut for the demons.

If Hill can win the Rising Star, he will have to beat all those young guns and if he can do this then a Brownlow might be on the way as you suggest.

Whilst I also think Josh Hill looks a gun, how many March champions have bitten the dust prematurely?
Chad Liddell anyone?
Josh may be peaking as a footballer now & he may not be- could still be improving.
Calling the Brownlow now on him is just ridiculous, & it's a good think Rushby you don't have access to the club, otherwise the burden of your expectations would no doubt crush him! :o

Gun player and looks "footy smart" too that will help him. Remember that there was a bit of a comotion that neither of the WA teams, especially Fremantle (who could do with most things) didnt pick him up. For those in the know in WA he was always a talent

Feature article in The Age on him after Round 2 made the point that his attitude stank last year and that the club put the hard word on him. Apparently he really knuckled down over summer.

OK

Cam Faulkner was used in a mentoring role at the WBU last year, for the young Aboriginal recruits. (Was 3, iirc, Hill, Stack and another)

Cam Faulkner performed very strongly in the VFL last year, but only got 2 or so AFL games and only got very limited on field time while in the league team.

ALLEGEDLY. Cam didn't mind a beer or 20 while in Melbourne. the RUMOUR is that one of the reasons he was delisted/didn't play much was because of poor attitude.

HOPEFULLY Cam has settled down and will use the talent that he has.

Re: Faulkner, I've heard the same.

Apparently is off to a good start with Centrals, I hope he can continue in that direction.

How many Dream Team points? I signed him up before last week and he got 99, seems like he was nowhere near that this week!
