Talk on the national game

Shaun Burgoyne

When is he going to perform?

Wasn't he a Brownlow favourite a year or so back?

There is no doubt the talent is there but when is he going to show the football world its there?

This guy reminds me alot of Daniel Wells from the Kangaroos, he has alot of talent but just can't perform.

Alot of people bag Daniel Wells and say he can't perform but whats the difference with Burgoyne and him?

Many of his team mates say he gets heavily tagged and its tough on him but so does every other midfielder!

I actually had him as just about Port's best today but you're right, he doesn't find enough of the footy when the pressure's on. A clearance specialist but again I have a slight query over his toughness. Loves to glide through and take the ball on the run and is an exceptional breaker of tackles but I have never seen him perform that initial extraction consistently. A bit of a receiver though not nearly as bad as some of his mates.

Poor timing on this comment as I feel he was our only stand out contributor today and had a reasonable game last week against the best midfield and best tagger (Ling) in the game.

Is this somewhat of a contradiction?

No doubt he wasn't the worst today but im speaking on previous performances.
This is just one game he has performed in a long time.
If he can back these good performances up for the next 15 games, ill write an apology to him.

No where near that class and never will be because of the lack of workrate...

BUT he was clearly the best for Port today in a very poor performance and for your own supporters to turn on you when you were the only bloke to break even / win his position for the day it's pretty harsh in my view
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

He was our best player by a mile today. Burgoyne wipes the floor with Wells.

I'd have to agree with that also ... Although I do hope we get to see the best of Wells at some point in the future because he does possess a buketload of talent.

Work rate is one thing Shaun definately does not lack.

Comparing Burgoyne with Wells?.....good one Macca, try again....you could do that IF they were the same age, perhaps try after their respective careers?

BTW Wells was sensational yesterday, in a winning team...

This could be a real good argument....

Wells could be better than Burgoyne....

Burgoyne could be better than Wells......

I think they both fail to deliver with the true talent they both posses on a regular basis.
