I heard today that if the Gold Coast team does enter the AFL that they'll have to play out of Brisbane because of an agreement the AFL has with the GABBA, wouldn't that be ironic after having the Brisbane Bears play out of the Gold Coast for so long!

Titans did it last year in the NRL....would be the sensible solution until a purpose built stadium was built on the Goldy

Titans played at Carrara last year.

The AFL/Qld Govt agreement is apparently until 2015 or so.
I expect that it will be abandoned and the new team will debut on the Gold Coast.

Preparations are already underway to put the new Gold Coast team in the QAFL from as early as next year.

Only recall games at Carrara, but without looking it up, you might be right there.

Wouldn't the new Qld team be Southport? Something is SERIOUSLY wrong if it isnt.

No it won't be.

AFL want a team with a composite identity and it will be known as the Gold Coast Football Club.

Southport know this, but are still looking at holding a stake in the new club.

Spot on, they want the support of all the Gold Coast and the Sharks aren't liked by other clubs down there.
It'd be almost as stupid as giving an AFL license to Port.
