We all know that Richmond beat a hapless Carlton on thursday night but i thought we might need another thread for the rest of the round 1 games. (Excluding Adelaide and Port games)

Collingwood and Freo are battling it out at the moment at the MCG.

Collingwood in front by 2 points late in the 2nd quarter.

Edit- Freo back in front after Egan gives away a double 50 metre penalty.

Good idea mate, it's a cracking game between the Pies and Dockers.

Rocca kicks a brilliant goal and the Pies lead by 13 points now and I think they should win this.

McManus, Bell, Solomon, Johnson, J Carr, they look slow through the midfield and they ran out of puff

The decision to recruit Johnson is a poor one

At times, Freo looked good. They were desperate in defence and took some nice marks down there but through the middle they are slow. I read an interesting comment on Bigfooty from one of their supporters, their defence and forwardline look awesome but their middle is Dad's Army. I think they will play Finals this year but will be 6-8.

Yeah I watched it on Fox, it was more in the background though.. I didn't watch every single play. I was pretty surprised to see a Collingwood game on Fox but I guess 9 don't have the footy anymore.

I was watching the game on fox this arvo and the absence of Clinton Grybas on their panel was so obvious. Did not really hit me until today but geez it was not the same.

Yeah I know what you mean, they also had a Tribute to the great man after the show... it's a damn shame.

Dennis Cometti called the game on AW and I thought he did a good job. Rex seemed a bit quite, probable due to Clinton...

I agree 100% SD

The backline was pretty reasonable today but they get no support from their midfield. You mentioned those names and then you throw in the likes of Matt Carr who has to be dropped next week, Byron Schammer who continues to turn the ball over, Heath Black who is undisciplined and people like Headland and Tarrant who look like they are not interested.

From what i saw today nothing has changed from last year. The decision not to play Palmer was a puzzling one.
