just read an article in the tiser that says the crows have the worst ruck division in the afl .now i know this article is based on the afl prospectus put out by champion data but it also has collingwoods rucks rated equal no 1 so the point is i dont think this is a true indicator as the crows rucks smashed collingwoods on sat night so dont belive all of what is written. sure we have inexperience to deal with but there is a big upside to this with a lot of improvment to come with these young fellas this year .i would at least rank the crows rucks over that of richmond, carlton and st kildas ...thoughts boys and girls ?

I would think the data they are going on will have something to do with prior games played @ AFL level !!!
If that is so I rekon the article will just go down as yet another paper filler with not much substance !!!

Correct, that would be my take. Take out Hackland from the Blues and our ruck division is close to the least experienced in the league. IMO Hackland won't get a game this year that's how bad Carlton's ruck division is !!

The champion data stats for these sort of things are useless.
I was listening to it being explained on SEN last week and it is purely based on Ruck Depth and not how good those ruckmen are. So for example Collingwood with Fraser, Bryan and Wood are ahead of Cox and Seaby because they have more options even though Cox and Seaby is the far better option. It is the same for the forward lines and midfields. Hawthorn were ranked 2nd last in the forward line even though they have a huge amount of talent in the forward 50.

Have just read the article too. what a load of tripe

contributes nothing to the world of football. Of course Adelaide is going to be ranked last. The number 1 & 2 ruckmen have played 30 games between them and then only as a back up to a more experienced ruckmen in the side. You don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to see that they are going to be last.

On the subject of Adelaide's ruckmen, i was impressed by the physical presence of Tippett, Maric and Moran against Collingwood. Whether or not they continue to show that kind of form, they look physically strong enough to compete at AFL level. I was also impressed by their aggression and willingness to compete, something which i think Jon Griffen lacks. If these 3 blokes stand up, his spot could be in trouble, IMO.

Moran is the sleeper no doubt - I think he had 11 touches and was only on the ground just under half the game. He seemed to be in the right spots every time Collingwood moved forward on Saturday night !!!

Good Call on Moran, saw him the other day, on screen he looks big but no bigger than other ruckman, in person the bloke is huge. If he can play half as good as what he looks like he can, he'll be alright.

Never underestimate the opposition....
Crows are a long way off a Premiership I think.
Craig'y you really have to produce something soon...
Or vacate the Greatest Position in South Australian Sport....!
Who will be the Next Coach of the Crows..?
I think he coaches in the North....?
Or is he at the Bay...?

Thats a big waste of the $3-400,000 a year that he is on, there are some very ordinary ruckmen commanding huge wages at the moment.

That stats article had Freo in at least the top 6 teams in all 4 categories - did Freo make the finals last year?
And also had Richmond as equal #1 for forwards? Along with Melbourne? Obviously the stats people love Richo & Neitz...
Stupid article and I regretted wasting valuable eyesight energy this morning reading it on the train coming into work.
