All Australian CHB Matthew Egan willl be lucky to play AFL before the halfway point in the 2008 season according to the Geelong Advertiser today.

Will be a big blow for the Cats (Yes i know you won the flag without him) and will be very hard to replace.

It may be time to step back up Tom Lonergan.

What injury did he suffer again? Broken foot?

Why is it taking so long to recover?

Last year in round 22 he broke a bone in his foot.

They announced that he was taking one of the screws out last week but now he is also having a Bone graft on his right foot.

Unfortunate for the young bloke, he really can play. I understand that it is a similar injury that put Hird on the sidelines for quite some time. He might have made it worse trying to get a gig for the Grand Final.

A big loss no doubt about it. We are short by one up forward and down back. I reckon Geelong will go well this year but might get off to a slowish start.

regards,

REB

Scarlett, Rooke, Milburn, Harley, Selwood, Enright, Hunt, and then some who can play back, he'd certainly make the best 22, but we'll do well enough without him...
Recent article quoting Harley as saying draftee Harry Taylor will get time in defence during the NAB cup, so if he goes well, you never know...

No doubt there is plenty of players that can play back but i am talking about big men. Out of those you listed Hunt,Enright,Selwood and to a certain extent Milburn and Rooke are running half backs. Only Scarlett and Harley are pure KPP. No doubt you will still do well, just dont wanna get to many injuries.

Tom Lonergan will probably be first in line and yes there are pretty big wraps on Taylor already so will look forward to see how he goes.

Yeah, the real test will be if another taller backman goes down (touch-wood) for an extended time... Should be able to cover Egan although obviously you'd want him in the side as much as possible.

it's also has been reported that Judd's grion is not responding all that well, he is still in restricted training and could miss the first 4-6 weeks of the regular season
