Roos rookie first ACL victim
By Jon Ralph
January 30, 2008 NORTH Melbourne rookie Nathan Grima has become the AFL's first cruciate ligament victim of the season after injuring a knee at training on Monday.
Grima, 22, a Tasmanian who played in a South Australian National Football League premiership with Central District last year, joined the club late last year.
The mobile defender's younger brother, Todd, is a former Geelong rookie, while another brother, Alex, was picked up in the rookie draft by Hawthorn last year.
Scans have been delayed, but Kangaroos football manager Donald McDonald said it was almost certain Grima had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
"It's a big blow because we had high hopes for him this year," McDonald said.
"It's an ACL and it looks like he will be out for the season."

The curse of leaving Centrals strikes again...
A shame for the lad, was expecting him to push for a senior list spot next season - hopefully the roos give him another year to show his true value.

Without looking at the AFL guidelines, i'd say that they cant, but who knows with this AFL administration.

No he cant be replaced. You cant draft a player outside of the drafts. Its just plain bad luck.
I reckon he was a chance to possibly get some gametime as well. I wonder if they'll keep him for a second year?

I'll pass that info onto Shannon Motlop.

Can't believe they drafted him in the first place. Still, bad news.

Grima isn't AFL standard.
Moran isn't either, might play some footy with the Crows but will never do much.

How does Grima's SANFL record rate alongside Meesen's?

Your post didn't mention anything about extreme circumstances, it just said unconditionally that you can't draft a player out of the drafts which is incorrect.
