Yackermanis' latest pearl of wisdom

Ten teams are too many in Melbourne says Yakermanis. If you played for the Bulldogs would you be quite so keen to bring this to everyone's attention? I know that the Dogs have improved their bottom line over the last few seasons but surely if a reduction of clubs in Melbourne were to take place then it would be his club that would be right in the firing line.

I swear the bloke only opens his mouth to change feet.

His point against the AFL establishing a 17th team that is not a relocated side on the Gold Coast appears to be that it took Brisbane "a long long time to get established". - Which is quite true, yet three premierships have been the result of that and a hard nosed competitive club built up in the meantime, so it seems like a good result to me.

Considering that existing clubs have a specific wish of their members not to move, starting new sides is the only alternative.

Clearly 10 clubs in Melbourne is too many. Yes hes being a fraction hypocritical given who he plays for, but hes only speaking the truth.

I think they should merge the Power and the Crows, seeming as they are both "south Australian" clubs battling against the "Victorian" clubs.

Exactly.
We've been saying this for this long and virtually nothing has happened.
We could be here again in another twenty years waffling on about it.

Im sure this is Akermanis' view as he would have little attachment to the Footscray in the jumper he now wears. He is aware that his career will be over before any major changes like the loss of a Melbourne based club, therefore having nil impact on him.

If it was his Bears 10 years ago in the sights, before the Fitzroy take over I think he would be a little less flipant.

We would never merge Port, we would simply take them over....

More supporters, more members, more money, more class, more flags.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Mate, I'd be a tad more subtle than that if I was fishing....the premierships is a bit of a low blow as you've only been around since '97

I think the teams with the least premierships should go first.

P.S. I can buy Rushby Jr. a junior crow membership, jersey and scarf and we can cheer the mighty Crows together

Go the Power.
