Essendon = 10-14 again

Talk on the national game

Essendon = 10-14 again

Postby Rik E Boy » Sat Feb 18, 2006 5:18 pm

Probably at the upper end of that scale due to a fairly friendly draw. Why....

SYDNEY: 2.5, 6.5, 8.8, 10.11 (71)
ESSENDON: 4.4, 9.5, 10.9, 13.11 (89)

GOALS – Sydney: Richards 3, Currie 2, Ablett, Grundy, Spriggs, Thornton, Brabazon
Essendon: Lucas 2, Lloyd 2, Watson 2, Monfries, Dempsey, Welsh, Lovett-Murray, Ryder, Watson, Heffernan
BEST – Sydney: Richards, Roberts-Thomson, Spriggs, Bolton, Malceski, Vogels
Essendon: Bradley, Winderlich, Lucas, Welsh, Monfries
INJURIES – Sydney: Nil
Essendon: Nil
REPORTS - Nil
UMPIRES - Troy Pennell, Matthew Head, Mathew James
CROWD - 8461 at North Sydney Oval, Sydney

This was an Essendon side who was admittedly minus star James Hird but the Swannies only had four of their grand final side in this match. Paul Roos mentioned in more than one report he would have copped a ten goal loss sweet. 19 Points!! LMAO Essendon, you are gone!! Take any Victorian journo's pre-season prediction of an Essendon top eight finish with a fairly hefty dose of Sodium Chloride.

I don't think you can read too much into the result of these type of games regardless of who is/isn't playing.

Quite a reasonable response considering it is February after all but four grand final players vs a combimation more advanced in their preparation from a side that finished 13th and apparently is hell bent on proving that last season was an abberation? Sheedy wasn't happy with his side and said so, which was quite telling in my view.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Do you see Carlton, Freo, Collingwood, HAwthorn, Port, Brisbane, Kangas, Bulldogs or Richmond in the eight?

To me Essendon con be braketed with the PAPs, Adelaide, Bulldogs, Brisbane, Melbourne, Collingwood, & Richmond as to who will fill the positions between 5 to 12. I'll have to read the entrails of a goat (aka Port supporter) to determine the exact numerical order of those positions. FWIW I fell more confident about Adelaide and Dogs making the final eight, less confident about Collingwood & Richmond

To me Carlton, Freo, Hawthorn and Kangas no show

West Coast, Sydney, Geelong & St Kilda will be in the eight come round 22.

In other words I've got no **** idea and my ar5e is hurting sitting on this fence - no purile Bay jokes please :roll: :roll: [-X [-X
I know you, Punky and Booney won't be able to help yourselves.......

Hows this for a prediction:

Geelong to lose the GF - to WCoast (again) after being two goals up turning for home at lemon time.... :lol: :lol:

Cousins BOG in the game and in the post match "celebrations" in the Perth watchhouse :drinkers:
