Stewie Dew has nominated for the draft today

Hawthorn must be keen.
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.

Had heard he was going to but was sworn to secrecy - not sure why, I thought it was good news.

Will be handy for the Hawks, will add something to their side for sure.

Hopefully he heads back to Centrals (or Salisbury) for a season or 2 before it's all over.

Not many clubs have 28 year old recruits in their sights, more so one's that have had a year out of the game.Interesting to see what transpires.

Glad you're not the coach  . Centrals would snap him up in a heartbeat.

No there isnt, more so when modern day football requires supreme fitness, not something Dewy was ever a master of.

Paul Salmon was much older when Essendon enticed him back a year after he retired from Hawthorn.

Reasonable results for Essendon in that one, but Salmon was more there for leadership and guidance of the younguns than anything else.

Stuart has no injuries, is still quite young and has a refreshed attitude toward footy. All positives.

So long as Hawthorn don't try and play him as a midfielder they will get a good result. He'd get 50+ goals from HFF or FP I reckon.

50 goals is a superb season for a HFF. Might be asking a bit much.

it is a risk

fitness has never been easy for Mr Dew, a year off an eating 20 dozen pies per week will not help

the Hawks seem a good fit, I wish him all the best in his come back.....

before I go, it begs the question, why is Port not an option?,

He was approached by Hawthorn (Alisair Clarkson in particular - they had a good relationship at both Centrals and Port).

As with (what I would think,16 AFL clubs) 28 year old recruits do not fit into our current 'structure'.Good question though.

My thinking is if he does get back into the system he wont be the gun he once was.

He was an important part of our build up to success in 04,perhaps gun was the wrong word, but in a top of the table side (Port circa 02-04) he was one of our best half dozen.

In my book, and blinded by the jumper he once wore (NOT CENTRALS),he was a gun for mine. Each to their own.

(Cue thread off track discussing whether Dew was a 'gun' or not.LOL)

Stewie dew, said he lost his desire for football, more like he was 'lovestruck' & discovered keeping the Hollywood girl was always going 2 be an impossible task. His football has now suffered with a year in the paddock & a good paddock at that! Sorry Stewie you should stay at Centrals mate as your AFL career was good at Port but your good days are behind you at that level.
