Should Port Power align themselves with Central?

To me there seems to be many similarities between Central and Port. Central also seem to be the team least interested in the Crows, besides Port Magpies. They are next door neighbours with Port territory extending up to Salisbury. If Port Power were serious about representing the north/northwest part of Adelaide could they create some serious interest in the Power from Central people and therefore create more support and membership?
They could target the schools and communities of the northern areas. Perhaps train occasionally at Elizabeth Oval. I think Central by themselves are probably not big enough to be an AFL club and Port by themselves aren't quite big enough to be a strong AFL club, but together they could take a fair share of the Adelaide AFL market. Thoughts?

I for 1 would not want them involved with my club.Ever since my father grunted and rolled off my mother I have been taught that if you don't barrack for ethelton then you despise them! This continues to this day and is a tradition I have happily handed down to my own kids. Let the "smears" wallow in the shallow gene pool of their own supporters and leave Centrals out of it.
p.s. Woodville oval is a damn sight closer to them than we are, perhaps you lot should get into bed with them.

I've really got nothing to add to that, couldn't have said it better myself.

Probably one of the few things Centrals could do to make me walk away from them completely.
I do understand what you are saying and from a non-centrals-supporter perspective it would have some positives.
But I can't for the life of me work out why anyone wouldn't want to support Centrals...

The AFL and the SANFL are separate comps and should be treated that way
Don't put a rider on Doggies fans that they have to support the Power
I actually don't think either CDFC need it (financially or otherwise) and neither do PAP. So why do it? PAPs supporter base is already not what it should be why then risk alienating PAP supporters who aren't CDFC supporters.
Conversely, why would CDFC risk losing its supporters who hate Port Adelaide?

It has been my conviction since day one that the SANFL should be an 8 team comp with 4 teams aligned to each AFL club -- to align to one team only to an AFL club would affect the SANFL competition too much (look at the VFL for evidence).

Yes, an idea that has been around for a while - to make it 8 teams one of West, Eagles, Port, Centrals, North has to go, as the River is a natural dividing line!
Any volunteers, or should we have a poll?

While a dream --- will never happen as the opportunity was missed years ago.
When the Power came in they (the SANFL & the Power proposal) sadly misjudges the amount of support for the two port teams when the AFL team started -- very sad really.

First part of that Post I agree with totally .The only thing we were taught to hate more than Port were victorians who did not play for our SANFL clubs.Unless they came to play port then we supported the vics.
And if my wife reads this i have changed my ways love
Now the last sentence don't you think to us Eagles fans(one of the founding clubs annexed its self from Port) hate that our father son rules etc go to Port.Well when we get some that isand before any one scoffs its not that far off.

West are on the right side of the river...so that leaves Eagles, Port, Central & North....

No way would I ever be wanting to see that happen!!!!
Yet if they really do want to do that, I wouldent object to Port Powers AFL licence being signed over to Central, then the colours changed to what the Central managment think appropriate, then let Central run their own AFL side out of Elizabeth - that would be sweet!

I've been away from Adelaide too long - and my first wife lived in Richmond too. So it would be the south that needed the amalgamation then....

Well I was thinking south of the river which runs diagonally. Actually, it is anathema to others but I wouldn't have a problem with a Sturt-Norwood merger.

After the spectacular way the Power went down on Grand Final day perhaps they could align themselves with Paris Hilton.
