Any fellow Hawks members get their renewal package in the post this week?

Very professional IMO, keyring, stickers etc enclosed in the gold tin and nice to get it well before Christmas.

Hopefully the improvement continues in 2008.

Other Melbourne based team members- have any of you got your renewal package? What did it consist of?

Carn the Hawks

Bulldogs consisted of about 472 glossy pages trying to simplify everything and why the bandwaggoners should stay.

One good thing the dogs introduced 2 or 3 seasons ago is an auto-renewal system. Me (and my kids) member fees are deducted monthly, and we are automatically renewed as members at the end of every season without completing any forms.

I'm a full member, kids are junior members, for there $25 each (something like that) they get a complete show bag full of goodies worth more then $25 to buy, (at least) including a scarf and new cap every year (all members get that if signed by Christmas), kids also get back packs, watches, pencil cases, stickers. magnets, newsletters, watches, everything.

Hawks, members
Hawks = members

That's more like it. Looking forward to the fall. Hawks to go backwards until they learn to play contested footy.

Thats ok RR, the Power beat the Cats in round 21 or so, and what good did that do? 119 points, thats what!

That's exactly right. Something Port supporters never got the hang of was humility. Seems Cats fans are following suit with nowhere near as much ammo. Either way all i am saying is that it may be a little premature to write of the Hawks. It's also a bit rich coming from a supporter of a club who have been labelled (and rightly so) "handbaggers".

Overall, Geelong leads. This decade it is 7-5. They've won the last three, giving them the edge, but hardly a bitching.

Handbaggers LMAO....all the rooster has as 'ammo' is that bullshit line and his 80's DVDS. Sounds like someone's livin in the past...CONTEMPORISE MAN. 8)

Overall Geelong has defeated Hawthorn more than the other way around.
Overall Geelong has won more premierships (two behind in VFL/AFL history admittedly).
Overall Hawthorn has won more wooden spoons.
Geelong has never finished lower than 12th in its entire history. Hawthorn have.
Geelong has never had a winless season. Hawthorn have (twice).
Geelong are still being called 'handbaggers' by supporters of teams who look to the past...like Hawthorn fans. But at least we were never called 'Mustard Pots' or worse, 'Mayblooms'.
Hawthorn were knocked out of the finals by a team that Geelong defeated by 16 goals the week before. Some might have suggested we handed the bags over to the Roos who then passed them to the Hawks. And didn't little Shane spit the dummy LMAO.
Even during Hawthorn's golden era they never won a grand final by 20 goals.
Highest score.
Most wins in a row.
Most games without a loss.
Brownlow, VFL, Flag, JJ Liston, AFLPA MVP, Norm Smith, McLelland Trophy, Rising Star, Nine AA's. Have the Hawks ever done that in a single year?

No Ammo? Try again.

One thing I won't be trying on is the 'not humble' cap as I don't believe it fits. I don't think I've been on here bragging non stop on this site so that one's going through to the keeper. The majority of Cat fans I believe, are just bloody relieved! I've sledged Booney a little but I don't think any Cat fan has been OTT since our win but when roosters start to crow it becomes an attractive option, especially as this Hawk group has achieved little and has the work still in front of it and has the dreaded 'potential' label attached to it.

As for writing off the Hawks, yeah, probably premature but I'm not convinced about the Hawks in a contested football situation. At one stage last year Hawthorn were winning (minor round) games but were running 16th in hardball gets and way down on scoring effiecency stats. Sure, the Hawks improved out of sight in 2007 but I can see some 'lockdowns' being applied on them next season and that the Hawks will have to endure a higher level of scrutiny next year from opposition coaches and teams. I reckon the Hawks will come again but probably not next season IMO.

But hey, anytime Hawkers want to come after the Cats* based on ancient 'handbagger' perceptions, bring it on because your golden era is long gone. The final insult..Collingwood are better than you.

REB

*Not that I started it with that Hawks, members line or anyting.

Nice try REB. For what it worth i can't be stuffed reading through that entire long winded post of yours but i'm sure i get the jist. Just another Geelong fan getting carried away with one flag in the last 40 odd years. Enjoy your success now. There may well be even more in the next few years for the Cats as well but you could perhaps try to be a tad more humble. You can come out with all the records you like but at the end of the day if you beat Port by 1 point or 119 points you still get the same prize. It's not worth any extra because of the margin.

Oh, and Collingwood better than Hawthorn? Well they were in 2007 as they went a step further so i can't argue there. Just have to wait and see what 2008 brings but it appears there is not much point in bothering with 2008 because you have already declared that Collingwood are better than my side and you would know i guess.
