Either way all i am saying is that it may be a little premature to write of the Hawks. It's also a bit rich coming from a supporter of a club who have been labelled (and rightly so) "handbaggers".
Handbaggers LMAO....all the rooster has as 'ammo' is that bullshit line and his 80's DVDS. Sounds like someone's livin in the past...CONTEMPORISE MAN.
Overall Geelong has defeated Hawthorn more than the other way around.
Overall Geelong has won more premierships (two behind in VFL/AFL history admittedly).
Overall Hawthorn has won more wooden spoons.
Geelong has never finished lower than 12th in its entire history. Hawthorn have.
Geelong has never had a winless season. Hawthorn have (twice).
Geelong are still being called 'handbaggers' by supporters of teams who look to the past...like Hawthorn fans. But at least we were never called 'Mustard Pots' or worse, 'Mayblooms'.
Hawthorn were knocked out of the finals by a team that Geelong defeated by 16 goals the week before. Some might have suggested we handed the bags over to the Roos who then passed them to the Hawks. And didn't little Shane spit the dummy LMAO.
Even during Hawthorn's golden era they never won a grand final by 20 goals.
Highest score.
Most wins in a row.
Most games without a loss.
Brownlow, VFL, Flag, JJ Liston, AFLPA MVP, Norm Smith, McLelland Trophy, Rising Star, Nine AA's. Have the Hawks ever done that in a single year?
No Ammo? Try again.
One thing I won't be trying on is the 'not humble' cap as I don't believe it fits. I don't think I've been on here bragging non stop on this site so that one's going through to the keeper. The majority of Cat fans I believe, are just bloody relieved! I've sledged Booney a little but I don't think any Cat fan has been OTT since our win but when roosters start to crow it becomes an attractive option, especially as this Hawk group has achieved little and has the work still in front of it and has the dreaded 'potential' label attached to it.
As for writing off the Hawks, yeah, probably premature but I'm not convinced about the Hawks in a contested football situation. At one stage last year Hawthorn were winning (minor round) games but were running 16th in hardball gets and way down on scoring effiecency stats. Sure, the Hawks improved out of sight in 2007 but I can see some 'lockdowns' being applied on them next season and that the Hawks will have to endure a higher level of scrutiny next year from opposition coaches and teams. I reckon the Hawks will come again but probably not next season IMO.
But hey, anytime Hawkers want to come after the Cats* based on ancient 'handbagger' perceptions, bring it on because your golden era is long gone. The final insult..Collingwood are better than you.

*Not that I started it with that Hawks, members line or anyting.
