Will Brennan ever live up to the hype?

Postby Baron Greenback » Thu Oct 25, 2007 4:41 pm

As a Brisbane Lions fan I've become frustrated by Jared Brennan over the years.
Although he had a superb 2007, I'm just wondering if I'm biased in my opinion that he should be a superstar.
Will he ever live up the hype which has surrounded him since that famous debut against the Pies?

Found it interesting that his statement after resigning read along the lines of him playing like Daryl White. Apart from the body type and holding the ball in 1 hand, he has a long way to go before he can compare with White. White was inconsistent early in his career too, but looked got it together to be a hugely important player in the team. Through the tough times too. I like the kid and reckon he can play but a little ahead of himself at this time. Needs 2 more seasons like the past 1 to get the deserved accolades.

Agree, Daryl White was a real enigma for his first 3 or 4 years.
A case of a player who flourished when given the responsibility of playing in the backlines.
Hopefully Brennan can live up to the hype.

Brennan is typical of some of the Territory boys all dash but no cash, capable of exceptional footy when he feels like but only when in the mood.
