Crows Delistings

Torney- Poor move as he had a solid year and is a very dependable player. So what if he’s 30? He’s still more than capable of playing some very good footy and if I were him I would feel very hard done by and I would be looking for a new club. I believe he’s still got 1-2 years left.

Hinge- Another poor move because as I’ve said elsewhere he looked comfortable on debut. How you can delist someone after only 3 quarters of AFL football in which they looked comfortable is beyond me. Won’t ever be a star but has shown enough to indicate he has a future at the top level.

Pfeiffer- Now this one I’m fired up about. He might have some off field issues but considering he’s just turned 20 and is a tremendous talent, it’s a massive mistake and will come back to haunt them. I expect him to be claimed by either West Coast or Port.

Bode- Obviously injuries got the better of him which is a shame because whenever he’s roaming the forward line the Crows looked a much more dangerous side. He’s still only 27/28 and if there was a chance his body could’ve taken more AFL footy then it’s a mistake.

Perrie- 10 years too late.

extremely surprised at the Torney decision but it has to be made either this year or next keeping in line with the over 30 policy regarding contracts.

Hinge could find himself a little unlucky maybe a relisting as a rookie on the cards for him

Pfeiffer dead wood needed to be cut been on the list for a while and did more off the field than on it for the Crows unfortunately.

Bode yes it was time he went

Perrie enuff said

2 years is enough to show something that you are capable of playing at the top level. Obviously Darren didn't show enough

Mate the reason he's gone is off field, nothing to do with what he showed on the field.

either way he is gone and judged not good enough by the AFC. If a player has off field issues the club should try to help them but that can only go so far

From someone who sees Pfiefer play most weeks it is a big big mistake.
He is a boy ffs !!!!! He is only just coming good.......someone else will grab him and get the benefit.
I hope it is Port...along with Aish.

On the other players

Perrie, obvious decision, but all the best to Sarge
Bode, his body can't perform to the level required
Hinge, 3 years for 1 game, there comes a time when potential needs to deliver

Torney, as most of you know, I have not had Torney in my best 22 all year, I have regularly questioned his leg speed, ball use and decision making...

Torney's courage and work ethic is unquestionable, he has been a very consistent player during his time at the club, however, at the beginning of the year the club had 6 or 7 players over 30, last years decision to delist Hart was the first of many tough decision facing the club over a 2-3 year period, however these decisions need to be made.

This year Adelaide had the oldest list in the competition, the club almost missed the finals, and ,most people agreed Adelaide's list needed an injection of youth, Craigy at times has been questioned whether he has the courage to make tough calls with the senior players, and whether he has the courage to run with a younger list, the club has now shown their hand.

The club over the past three years have had a strong defence, Massie is a Torney like for like player, Steven's has improved, Symes has been recruited for Torney's role, Douglas is itching for more opportunities, and Gallman has been escalated to the list to play a similar role.

As a member, I have been waiting for the crows to provide more opportunities for the younger players, with Roo, Bode, Perrie, Hudson and Torney departing, their is plenty of opportunity for the young guys, hopefully those opportunities will enable the crows to find their next Ben Hart

This is a fresh approach from the club, one which will hopefully produce some fruit

The Crows have to make some harsh calls on their list - it's as simple as that...
It hasn't been good enough to win a premiership, so move on and try with a newer group...

FFS people - stop being so critical of the club.. If they don't make changes then
"mumbles is just playing and recyling the same players"
if we do make change there is all this complaining and whinging...

Torney - we now have picked up a young kid (the future) in Symes who can fill this role and develop.. Torney while dependable, lacks leg speed and his disposal leaves a bit to be desired...

Hinge is the unlucky one granted, but he hasn't developed as quickly as similar style players, such as Knights / Van Berlo and even Vince, who has improved at the Eagles this year...

Pfeiffer can only blame himself.. Football is not only onfield these days, but it is being professional off field also...

Bode hasn't played the last 2 seasons due to injury basically.. We have a younger replacement in Porplyzia who can develop further with more game time, which is more important to the future...

Perrie would be lucky to play 2nds in an SANFL club, he's a dud....

Club is trying to improve it's list and work towards a premiership..... not worrying about patching up a team to make the top 8 and bombing out in the 1st week again.... I say good on them for trying!

scaffidi can't drive

totally agree with your thoughts on Torney... he has been a very consistent player for the club, however, the club needs to ask the following question...

do we have a younger player capable of playing that role.....

the club can either stick Torney on a HB flanlk for another season, or give Symes, Douglas, Gallman an opportunity to develop their football within an experience defence that will consist of Macca, Rutten, Bassett and maybe Massie......

FFS, everyone Praises Collingwood for playing their younger players, I have been craving for Adelaide to take this path....

Hart was the first tough decision, Torney was next, their will be more next year

SD - I think we are pretty much thinking along the same lines
my view is quite simple.. play the kids the next year / two and develop them into a team that can win a flag..
Will I be happy if they finish bottom 8 next year ... NO.. No-one wants to finish down there...
BUT - I will be happy to accept it if they play kids and develop the list to be competitive in the years to come...
There is more then enough talent at the club to be a force in 2 - 3 years time with development and game time..

I believe the club should be aiming for finals footy

Port, Collingwood, Hawthorn and the Kanga's proved this year that a young side can play some exciting footy.....

even though Adelaide still have the experience core of Macca, Edwards, Bassett and Goodwin, most positions in the team now seem to have a vacant sign up, this will set up a very competitve pre-season.

if I was a young player at Adelaide, I would be preparing myself for a huge pre-season

The club has now made nine changes to it's 2007 list
Gone are Torney, Bode, Perrie, Hinge, Pfeiffer, Meesen, Hudson, Mattner and captain Mark Ricciuto.

The club have already gained four players Symes, Moran, Gallman and Walker.

This gives us five picks in the national draft next month – 10, 27, 30, 38 and 59.

I can't recall the club being any better positioned for a national draft

Maybe Doughty and Jericho are not yet safe

has the club announced, that is it......

the crows have five picks at the national draft, however it may also come down to who may be available at the pre-season draft

Well guys in my opinion, Doughty is lucky not to be on that list. Jericho well same boat as hinge, at some stage potential has to deliever. What has jericho done , not much the axe should have fallen on him and doughty.

Michael Doughty was always going to get one more year at least. its make or break next year. As for jericho the AFC must see somthing. and in the games e played he did well. But Jason Torney coming off his best year at the club. propably the best year of his career that was pretty harsh. if i was him i would go in the pre season draft. a club like North melbourne could do with an expearienced defender now archer is gone.

Why was he always going to get one more yeah?
I dont rate him at all, he is a poor user of the ball.

in neil craigs own words. (mick is a stragler. but his effort is always 110% and thats all we can ask). but i agree with you anyway he should be gone. it should have been jason torney given one more year.
