According to the boys on 5AA the AFL have gone cold on the idea of SOO for 2008 claiming it's all got too hard. 2 main factors:

- unequal representation of players from individual teams
- number of SOO games

Good.
State of Origin died when the Eagles, Bears/Lions, Crows & Power entered the AFL.

To work it needs to be...
1) A meaningful competition.
2) Players get rewarded well financially.
3) Public and therefore media interest.
4) Acceptance by clubs.

Unfortunately the AFL have stuffed up on the first step of making it a meaningful competition. Acceptance by clubs could be difficult, but if the first three things were in place the clubs would come around.

State of Origin could/would be great. It is more relevant than ever as far as the amount of players playing away from their home state. A South Australian team playing in State of Origin would not only be a great standard of play, but would also be the only thing that would pull the whole state together to barrack for one footy team.

Would only work if it was SA v Vic. Who wants to watch WA v Vic or SA v WA, let alone the Allstars...

It should be SA Vs. Vic Vs. WA like it used to be we all loved it then and we want it back now. I wanna see tuesday night footy live from Football Park Victoria hammering SA. or usually SA hammering Victoria.

This is a shame because I was looking forward to watching SoO.

I don't care if it is SA v VIC or SA v WA or other combinations - I would still watch anything SA played in!
