great career, glad he stayed there rather than taking the coin at alberton (or anywhere else) & no wonder hudson wants to go there no darcy or grant so there is a spot for him as he'd be picked in front of street for sure

not too sure Hudson would get picked ahead of Street

great career Grant, he will pass on some invaluable tips to the young fellas at the club

Yeah, Hudson before Street. Street might play the odd good game but he's not as consistent and is unco as all hell.

regards,

REB

Yeah it's been a huge year for the retirements. May be more to come though, by way of desisting etc etc (forced)...
Well played Granty...

Was a superstar of the competition for a long time and sadly unfairly robbed (imo) of a deserved Brownlow Medal ... His loyalty to the Dogs is more than admirable and he will rightly be revered as a great of the club!

Sister of a mate of a mine worked with him for a few years and said a nicer, more level headed bloke off the field you would struggle to find.

Yes, well done Chris :D

My fondest memory would be the goal he kicked to sink Essendon in 2000.

Yes, the bombers really struggled to bounce back from that. Took a long time.

Hudson > Street with daylight in between.

Grant was a definitive case of loyalty in football and for that he deserves the high level of respect that he has attained.

Grant was very high on Port Power's shopping list for their inaugral season IIRC

As Benchwarmer says - put loyalty to his club before the $$$$

He prob had other offers in his career too

Not sure of the validity of it, but at the time he was reportedly considering the move to Port for far superior money, a young Bulldogs fan apparently sent him something like 20 cents in the post, just in case it would help him stay at the Dogs.

I have heard him speak of it CP, pretty certain it's a true story. 20c sticky-taped to a letter, hand written in crayon with spelling mistakes everywhere, begging him not to leave.

He said at the time it brought a tear to his eye and he knew then he would never leave.

Best 20c Doug Hawkins ever spent.

(only the last sentence is a joke).
