Trades - Please explain

Can somebody explain if I am right or wrong here.

We all know that Hudson has been offered a 3 year deal by the Western Bulldogs and wants to be traded there. What if the Crows can't struck a deal with the Bulldogs but can strike a deal with say Richmond. I would believe that Hudson would have to go there, wouldn't he. (Remeber when Hawthorn sent Croad to Fremantle while he was under the knife) Once he is there then a contract is worked out between Hudson and Richmond. I would believe that Hudson has no say where he goes in the end, would he and the Crows would want to get something for Hudson. This is the same for Judd. I know clubs try to get players to where they want to but at the end of the day the Crows or any club need to do what is best for the club.

I am correct here aren't I. Please let me know if I am not. This is the same situation that Port had with Stevens. He wanted to go to Collingwood. However ended up at Carlton only because Port could not strike a deal and the only reason Carlton had him was cause they had pick 1 in the pre-season draft.

If I am correct here, the Crows need to at least get something back for Hudson and not let him go into the pre-season draft. It is obvious he does not want to stay. Maybe a package deal could be arrange for both Hudson and Meesen to go somewhere. Melbourne are looking for ruckman, the Crows are looking for good key position players and a little crumbing forward - Hudson and Meesen to Melbourne for Rivers and Davey. Hey Melbourne thrown in Jamar as well. You don't need that many ruckman - Jeff White, Paul Johnson, Ben Hudson, John Meesen , Shane Neaves who is currently on the rookie list but should be promoted.

Player needs to consent to the trade as well.

the players do need to consent to the trade

in Huddo's case, if the WB and the AFC do not agree on a trade, than Huddo can go to the WB by the pre-season draft, where the WB have an early pick.

But once he enters the draft then all bets are off. He could end up fricken anywhere.

By entering the pre-season draft he can nominate his contract terms and any club that selects him will have to honour those.
