Geelong v Collingwood Preliminary Final

Walk in the park for the Cats....?

Or a closer game than most people think?

I'd have to say the Cats by a fair bit but remember the 1999 prelim final Essendon v Carlton .....

Can't wait to see the crowd. 93k is my prediction. As long as the weather is fine it will be a massive crowd!

Not a walk in the park for the Cats at all. The big problem the Pies present for all opponents is that forward line. With three talls and three smalls it is a good balance. Of the fowards I rate Didak and Cloke to be the main dangers. Luckily for Geelong, Scarlett owns Rocca and Collingwood's effectiveness up front is always reduced when the big Pie doesn't boot three or four goals.

This match will be won in the centre. Geelong will tackle and harrass the Magpie midfielders which will cause a drop off in quality and quantity in the delivery to their dangerous forward line.

The last time we played the Pies they had a few out and it was tight all day. If it is tight again, expect the week of to be a big advantage for the Cats as we have shown all year that we can blow teams away with a quick burst of goals.

regards,

REB

I hear there is talk of Geelong having to wear their alternate strip for this game...thats crap.
Both sides should be able to wear their traditional jumpers with:

Geelong: Normal jumper with white shorts - predominately white look
Collingwood: Normal jumper with black shorts - predominately black look

Simple...like this (white vs black is more evident from behind as well)

Geelong should be wearing their traditional guernsey with blue shorts.

Collingwood should wear something that doesn't clash with what Geelong are wearing. It isn't difficult for anyone to understand, except Vlad.

It didn't happen in the Cats/Roos game so it prob won't happen in the prelim - ie, Geelong had to wear white shorts v the Roos

TBH, I think we are getting more upset about it than the club would be

They would be focussing on game preparation and winning - as REB said in another thread they could wear a Sturt uniform as long as they won for all he cares

I was at the same game during the year at the MCG and from the nose bleed stands, it is very hard to tell when Geelong were wearing blue shorts and Collingwood black

Its one of the worst clashes they have - I can't see how it can be done without the Cats wearning white shorts, rightly or wrongly

Collingwood should be made to wear an alternate strip but it will never happen and I don't care as long as geelong wins.

As long as Eddie doesn't stick his nose in, the right team should win.

Go Cats!

I feel that the pies are a little more of a chance than people will think. It will be a good game but the cats will get home in the end.

Must admit I had trouble distinguishing the teams last time they played as I watched the game at the Rosemount (only place in SA where it was live), if you're not directly in front of a projection screen its almost impossible to tell them apart.
And Ive recently had my vision tested and its 20/20.
No probs if you're sitting in front of a normal TV in your own household though.

I am and I never had a problem telling them apart.
Having said that, Geelong should be wearing its home strip, NOT effing Collingwood.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.
