Holding the ball is much more of an issue than the hands-in-the-back interpretation IMO but is only now getting media attention - well overdue

They simply don't have the interpretation of the rule right IMO

Back to the game - looks like 7th and 8th really were 7th and 8th if you get my drift. Sydney and Adelaide now prob 1 year past their best with their current playing groups and need a refresher for 2008. Regardless of the umpiring

But we'll see ... maybe another Swans comeback is on the cards????

It was always going to be a hard ask for the Swans or the Crows to win 3 games on the road to make the GF, I never understood why so many were backing them in to make it.

That's why its so crucial to make the top 4 under the current final 8 system - very, very hard to make it from the bottom 4 and history has shown that. No-one from the bottom 4 under the current system has ever made the GF.

Apart from the umpiring, the Magpies were far too good for the Swans they have beaten them for the third time this season with attacking football which exposes Sydney's shut down game.

Isnt a week a ling time in football:

Last week:

Pies lose to Crows
Hawks lose to Swans

This week:

Crows & Swans eliminated!

Mal, the crows would be close, but I believe the crows only have themselves to blame in this area, they have been very very sloppy in 2007

SS most frees against ?
AC second most frees against ?

Slower teams, have to tackle more often ?
Numbers behind the ball, more congestion , more frees paid ?
New rules found both teams out ?
OR
Both teams tackle more than other teams ?

Get in front. get the ball. Get the frees.

Get in front. get rid of the ball. Get the frees.

The Swans did neither tonight.

Well done Pies.
