The De-Listings have started

Carlton have already weilded the Axe

David Teague, Dylan McLaren, Ross Young, Anthony Raso and Craig Flint were all let go.

This brings the number of changes to seven, with Anthony Koutoufides and Matthew Lappin already retired.

There could be another next week if the diagnosis on Lance Whitnall's degenerative knee is unfavourable.

Yep, had a good year, but lack of pace was a factor. A hard nut who didn't mind the rough stuff..
Whitnall will go IMO.
McLaren going shows that we will pick up Kruezer with pick one.

* Corey McKernan also won a B & F and was moved on two years after also *

If Ackland didnt have a year to run on his contract he would also be on this list, hopefully this cleanout works!

Correct...A stop gap measure and a poor one at that. Hopefully Charman lands in Blue land so Ackland can then play out his career with the Bullants...

As a second ruckman Ackland can still provide value but he was never a lead ruckman in anyone's language.

Didn't Ackland sign for 3 years?

this is the main reason why he left the Saints, the saints only offered him 2 years

Ross Young surprises me a bit and I think McKernan won his B&F under the great Wayne Brittian and was at Carlton because Pagan had lost confidence in him, hence when Pagan arrived at Carlton he was on borrowed time.

Teague should've played in the midfield in the AFL. Might not have had much pace but he was a tough nut who could find the footy.

I doubt Jamie Charman will be going to any Melbourne based club. He's almost certain to re-sign with the Lions. With the retirements of Chris Johnson, Chris Scott and with Michael Voss and Justin Leppitsch off the books, the Lions have a considerable amount of room under the salary cap.

"I love the team, I love the boys and I've got my life set up here," Jamie Charman 11th July
"I just wanted to wait until the end of the season to do the contract for no other reason bar that I don't want that sort of stuff hanging around while I'm trying to finish off the season." Jamie Charman - 11th July
"I love the team, I love the boys, I'd do anything for them," Jamie Charman 24 June 2007
"I love Brisbane (and) my family's here but I want to wait until the end of the season to have those talks. I want to concentrate on footy without this hanging over my head." Jamie Charman 24 June 2007
"Charman is clearly the club's best ruckman and any talk of a possible trade is malicious and inaccurate. From the club's point of view we value him and hope he spends the rest of his career here", Leigh Matthews - 24th June 2007

And from the Victorian Herald-Sun on 31st August 2007 - "Jamie Charman is close to agreeing to remain at the club"

Mitch Clark and Daniel Merrett have also re-signed with the Brisbane Lions.

Agreed with tha comment. If the Blues can bring on a lead ruckman then Ackland will still have some value.

The clean out is a good idea.

i've heard plenty of players go on the record with that sort of talk and still end up leaving.

that being said, i will still agree with you Roy, i think it is likely he will stay

So Charman has left then!! I hope not absolute champion ruckman, just needs a better ruckcoach in my opion (cant stand Rehn). How is Big Beau McDonald going? Hasnt really played many games for a few season now, possible delist / trade.

North Adelaide nearly got him last time he was going to be cut or soon to be out of contract so hopefully he will be at Prospect next year - open up the cheque books!

You can't pay your players from this year which is why at least one big name from this year is going back to Melb let alone recruit another ex AFL player.

One thing we have lot's more of at North than any other SANFL club by a very big margin is income these days so if we really want him we will get him but I do hear that a couple of SANFL clubs have already spoken to him other than North.
