I assume someone called out "Any dinosaurs want to comment?" though.

I'm sure I'm referred to as a dinosaur then. Can't stand watching the girls play. Absolute crap. Good on them though. They are on bloody good coin for their skill level so good luck t them.

You constantly bag them!!! What impact do they have on your life for you to continually comment about them??? Just seems odd that you, days and a few others have a crack whenever they can... How can our game getting more exposure a bad thing?? The comp is still young, just look back to when men first started playing, actually just look at the standard 40 odd years, it was junk... Just have to look at some of the talent coming through, the standard is only going to get better

70/80’s is some of the toughest and best footy you’ll ever see.
Give me that over the current style any day.

Today's game (mens) is by far more physically demanding then it was in the 70/80's...

I am going to have to disagree with you in regard to the Match day -
i'd love to see the Km's travelled between a current midfielder compared to one 'back in the day'...
Gameplan back in the day was kick the ball long and maybe punch the other teams best player in the head just to spice it up! Now they have to actually think, deal with rotations, zone's, presses and several other roles.
They hit probably a lot harder now due to the bigger bodies. Being athletes.

They definitely run more km’s these days, no doubt.
But they don’t hit as hard these days as you can’t.
Hip and shoulder is dead.
Smashing a pack is as good as dead.

I'm with amber on this one, 100%.

You have to be more athletic with more aerobic capacity in today's game, you had to be physically stronger in the 80's with a higher pain tolerance.

There were no post game ice baths or sports science to guide you through injury, they ran everything out and played injured.

If you don't think today's players crash in and hit as hard as any era what are you watching? Harder and faster than any era.

Hit, as in punch? Of course not. Hit, as in crash in, please.

What forward hits a pack/contest these days as hard as Ablett Snr, Plugger or Carey?
I’d say none.

And they do have better techniques these days when they know the bodies coming as they roll off them as opposed to crashing into them.

They don’t hit in as hard these days as they are too worried about hitting the head unintentionally and getting suspended

No, I don't, they get suspended immediately.
You used to get barreled standing under the ball waiting for a mark, you might get a free for it, you might get a 15 metre penalty, now you'll get a 50 and the player that barreled you will get 4 weeks, they don't hit as hard anymore.
It used to be fine to run hard at someone and bang into them like a cannon, now you have to have impact with a foot on the ground.
