Over $1m payout, that’s a nice bit of change to have a punt and get on the nose beers.

Bizarre timing though, don’t get sacked after coughing up the biggest 3/4 time lead but instead sacked after winning by 80

Who is next, Longmire, Simpson or Buckley?

They won’t go for an untried coach I wouldn’t think

Isn’t there a maximum of 6 months payout? He’s not on $2 million a year

The report is "near $1m" so if he's on $1.5+ then that's the 6 months.

No surprise that it seems that Glen Bartlett was right all along … if only they listened to him instead of sweeping everything under the carpet with nothing to see here.

Pretty sure he has a full payout clause in his contract so he has to be paid the full amount next year plus the remaining months of this year

Bizarre timing indeed.

Melbourne are all in with their longer term contracts for players which I would expect to backfire at some point in time.

Surely Brian Royal or Peter Sumich get the gig. They have applied for every job since about 1996 so well overdue to finally land one :)

Who will be the last player who played in the 2000s, to play an AFL match?

Debuts pre-2010 on current AFL lists:

2006 - Scott Pendlebury
2007 - (Travis Boak)
2008 - Patrick Dangerfield, Todd Goldstein, (Callan Ward)
2009 - Steele Sidebottom, Taylor Walker, (Michael Walters)

(Brackets = announced retirement.)

I don't think I've missed any. Steele is the youngest, born January 1991.

I didn’t realise he was still on an AFL list (Melbourne), Tom Campbell has been in the AFL since 2012 for 58 games
