Being on the Veterans List not much of his wage would be in the salary cap

That said he is not going anywhere

Veterans list only accounts for about $125k I think. Mitchell would still be on $400k plus at the Hawks I'd think

If the crows believe they can win it next year with Gibbs anyone who isn't a guaranteed walk up could be available

IMHO the Crows have historically always grossly overestimated their squads ability

Adelaide's window is as open as it is ever going to be and the addition of Gibbs makes them a scary prospect for the next couple of seasons.

I think their fringe players have enough talent to fill the gap left by whoever they have to offload to obtain Gibbs, I'd be keeping McGovern though and looking at one of there many running players that don't lay many tackles.

And the Blues would say no thanks and try again. We have enough players that don't tackle (actually we did improve in that area in 2016)...

We'll have a tall and draft pick thanks.

Thought it was 50% of their contact

Mcgovern will spend 3 or 4 years in Melbourne become a free agent then move back to perth hes not a long term recruit. Carlton will eventually lose him too

Interestingly Dear wasn't father son'd by Hawthorn. He's a Vic boy though and I don't see much point in our situation of picking non Vic kids up!

The women's draft is currently on, do we need a thread for it or will this post cover the interest?
