@Spargo

Chris Dittmar has dropped a massive footy rumour this morning regarding one of Port Adelaide's most important midfielders.

Speaking on his Triple M Adelaide breakfast show, Roo and Ditts, this morning, Ditts reported that two Melbourne-based club's have offered outside midfielder Jared Polec a substantial contract should he decide to leave the Power.

"There are two club's in Melbourne circling," Ditts said.

"And when I say circling, they've offered substantial money.

"There very interested in him because of his outside run.

"North Melbourne still have a bit of money at the moment...I'm led to believe that North Melbourne will throw big money at Jared Polec.

I too hope it isn't true. Good player who provides us with lots of run and carry and can kick a long goal as evidenced with his two rippers from 50 on the boundary against the Bulldogs and his important goal from outside 50 against Richmond when he was very influential in our win.

Much under rated outside Alberton, I can see why clubs would be chasing him. Anyway, won't happen, Adelaide boy who left Brisbane to come home, can't see him upping and leaving.

I rate him highly, the 3rd quarter against Adelaide and the 2nd quarter against Richmond when we set up match winning leads were very much on the back of Polec's run, carry and delivery. If people don't rate him they don't watch him close enough. Not his fault.

Whilst I think there is a greater chance of the Collective Minds program being resurrected at West Lakes, Booney, as Kerry Packer once said, deep down we are all whores, there's always a price that we are willing agree too....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Surely bonner, Houston, etc fill the Polec role not too bad? Is he a free agent?

Not IMO, Bonner and Houston are behind the ball players, Polec is on and forward.

5 years service, non-free agent.

Going nowhere. Seaton Ramblers > western suburbs of Adelaide boy, rated highly at Alberton too.

Our draft position is already pretty strong, our first rounder will depend on ladder position (currently 14) , then 21,31 47 and 49.

Would need to be a very, very good offer for us to trade him.

Out of contract at end of year, may not need to trade.

As an outside runner he’ll be waiting a while for the ball at those 2 clubs.

He brings a bit to the table (that outside run), but he also brings some stuff that isn't great.
Against Melbourne, taking the game on for us, he ran into trouble at least 4 times. Twice getting caught holding the ball, and twice dishing it off to a teammate who suffered the free against.

While some supporters understand that his taking the game on breaks lines and assists with goals, a number can't see past the fact he just ran into trouble and got caught holding the ball.

Its a similar reason as to why a lot of people couldn't stand pittard, especially early in his career. Would try and take the game on from half back, and if our forward weren't working for him, he'd only run into trouble and get caught like a deer in the headlights.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!
