Grundy to the Dees for pick 27, they have nailed this trade period IMO

There is enough there amongst all the stories to suggest JHF may have also been as much of the problem as the Kangas are a bit of a rabble. You also didn't see a wealth of Kangas players lining up in the media making comments like they really hoped he stayed etc. Unlike at the GC where their leadership group came out publicly pleading Rankine to stay. Throw in the Kangas have let him go imo on the cheap side suggests they are somewhat glad to see the back of him.

All trades have an element of risk but geez Port are either going to look like heroes or flops. Best case JHF becomes the player everyone thinks he will be and Rioli settles by being back in SA and gets back to his best WC form. Worst case Rioli flops and just gets in more strife and JHF was a man child who peaked at 17 years old.

Or, does this reflect the culture of NMFC?

It can be spun both ways.

If it was a poor culture then wouldn't there be players leaving in droves? Only player that has left that we wanted to keep in the last 6-7 years was Ben Brown, he got an extra year at Melbourne

There is a number of players now indicating JHF wasn't well liked there, in that case him staying was untenable for all parties.

Just because you wanted them doesn't mean anyone else did.

Pies supposedly paying $300k per year of Grundy’s wage too. Pies just dropped their strides and touched their toes in that one :)

Any truth that JHF acted like a bit of a prat at Mad Monday and a few North players confronted him?

No idea and it doesn't matter anymore, we all move on, be interesting to see how Roo's players react to him onfield in 2023

Jack Bowes deal is done. The Gold Coast midfielder has been traded to Geelong, as well as pick No.7, for a future third-round pick

The positive is it might actually attract a crowd to a Port/NM game.

I know they take on the $, but this deal makes a mockery of the AFL. At the very least if they take the $ on, it needs to be as per the old contract, not allowed to spread it out.

Something doesn't add up here.
$900k goes for pick 27.

Just wondering if there's a medical issue that we know about but Melbourne doesn't?

Not sitting well with me that's for sure.

Effectively they'll get 3 top 12 picks in (Bowes, Bruhn pick 7) for nothing.

If we use pick 7 on Bruhn that's two top 12 picks. We don't get to use 7 twice. It's good to see the battling clubs get a break here...

I meant pick 18 for Bruhn so yeah, Geelong end up with Bowes, Bruhn and 7 for pick 18 and a future 4th. System is broken.

What shouldn't sit well with you is your club continuing to make list management / contract spend mistakes. This has to be the last time they pay someone to play for another club.
