What happens when two teams whose guernseys 'clash' make the grand final?

I can't see the 'away' team wanting to wear its clash guernsey on the biggest day of the football year, in front of the biggest audience (live and tv) of the season.....will be very interesting what happens.

We had a mini situation like this during last years finals.
Melb v StK and especially Freo v Melb, the away teams wore their home jersey.
I agree Doggy,I can't see any team wanting to change its jersey on GF day if it has to.

Good point REB...
I never have probs between the Blues & Cats, especially lately, as Geelong are the team kickin goals...EASY !
Essendon & the Sts/Melb though...Essendons new clash is a shocker !

Should have a white away rule similar to Dogs, Freo, Carlton mmmm maybe Roos etc

That is the one day of the year the AFL definitely don't want a clash with a world-wide audience. So I guess it would be a toss of the coin and if you lose, just build a bridge and get out there. I'd reckon the AFL would only enforce it if there was a genuine clash rather than the Richmond - Bulldogs situation. Hypothetical ... what if Essendon got in against St Kilda and drew the short straw!

I think we just aren't used to it here. Overseas teams have long since got over wearing an alternative strip and just focus on what happens on the field.

I think the AFL should design and impose an alternative strip for Collingwood. Perhaps rompers and a dummy?

I couldn't care what Collingwood wear, so long as they continue their tradition of not winning premierships  a win-win situation

No, that is not the AFL's job. And if they did that there would be civil war within the AFL that would destablise the whole competition.
Considering the AFL is the caretaker of the game and owns all of the current and future guernsey designs, it most certainly is their job. If only they could execute their responsibility with some balls. All clubs should be made to wear alternate strips that are predominantly white when playing away games.

To declare my allegiance, I am an Essendon supporter and find our current clash guernsey a blight on the game.

In the Amateur League, you register your jumper, & it has a date.
If you clash with another side, the newer design must change.

Ie Adelaide v Melbourne- Adelaide wear a clash jumper....

try at least 3 years...1980 to 1982, went back to the traditional guernsey IIRC in the game the great one kicked 10...

have got budgets and SA Football worlds to prove that.

In fact the 1980 Carnival budget comes from a 1979 game so I think that gurnsey made its first appearance in 1979.

Not sure if we didn't go back in 83 or 84
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
