Don't judge H on this season's results. He had a dodgy shoulder all year long and his form was way down. I didn't even think Geelong were looking at trading him unless his injury is worse than thought and we are trying to offload him for that reason. McCarthy and Gardiner are worse players but possibly don't have the same trade value as H....cripes...are we gonna end up with Skipworth????

As for Steve Johnson, on Big Footy they reckon straight swap for pick 28!! Geelong are mad if they accept this trade. While Johnson does have many minus marks in his ledger, at least he can come in and play senior football as a ready made player, can we say the same about pick 28??? I'm hoping that Johnno stays and that Medhurst will end up at Collingwood instead and Tarrant goes to the Dockers.

The latest info from The Age website.....

Postby am Bays » Fri Oct 13, 2006 2:59 pm

2:01PM

Essendon's Dean Solomon is also off to Fremantle, joining his good mate Chris Tarrant at the Dockers.

1:58PM

With 90 seconds to spare, Hawthorn ruckman Peter Everitt has been traded to Sydney in exchange for the club's second round pick, No 33.

1:49PM

Hawthorn ruckman Peter Everitt's future remains unclear in the final minutes before the 2pm deadline.

1:43PM

West Coast big-man Michael Gardiner has been traded to St Kilda after the Saints gave up a third round selection and secured a fourth round pick.

In a remarkable series of trades, the Saints have picked up Gardiner and the No.59 selection overall — their original pick at the start of trade week.

St Kilda had given up the No.59 selection yesterday in exchange for Shane Birss from the Western Bulldogs.

The Dogs then off-loaded the selection to the Eagles as part of the deal to secure forward Andrew McDougall.

That fourth round selection has been in the hands of three clubs during trade week and finished back in the hands of St Kilda just minutes before the 2pm trade deadline.

1:04PM

Chris Tarrant is on his way to Fremantle as part of a three-club deal that also sees Paul Medhurst go to Collingwood and Graham Polak to Richmond.

In the most-anticipated deal of trade week, Tarrant joins the Dockers as the three clubs also swapped draft picks to complete the mega-deal.

In picking up Tarrant, Fremantle gave up Medhurst and its first round section (No.8 overall).

Collingwood then on-traded the No.8 pick to Richmond. The Tigers used that selection and their third round pick to gain Polak, who they will sign to a three-year deal.

But the Tigers also got the Dockers' first round pick (No.13 overall) and a fourth round selection, meaning Richmond secured Polak only by conceding places in the draft order.

Details on Tarrant's new contract with Fremantle are not yet available. He will speak with the media after 2pm.

As I said elsewhere looks like Freo have traded to win a flag in the next two years.....If they don't make the finals next year Connelly will be gone like last nights dinner.....Even an 5-8 finish might not save him methinks......

McGrath is still a Lion for the moment and I'd say the chances of him re-signing for the Lions has increased. I doubt West Coast or Fremantle will pick him up in the PSD, given their respective positions. Carlton on the other hand.....

...and why would you want to go there anyway....

I think their will be a lot of players available in the pre-season draft, McGraph, Thornton, Russell, not sure on Faulkner's contract status

in regards to Tarrant, it is a risky strategy by freo, in a draft that is tipped as strongest ever they do not have a pick until 31 second pick is at 52, they have ignored the best young talent

the other risk is they have agreed to a 4 year contract term at approx $450-$500k per year, this gives them no salary cap relief in the next few years, so if young players such as Schammer, Peake or Sandilands explode they will struggle to keep these young players, also players like Moody have expressed a desire to return to WA, they may struggle to put together a competitve bid for these players wishing a return to WA

It's a big gamble by the dockers
