Weird isn't it.

Any reason why it was held so late?

Yes.

The AFL EBA states that players must have 4 weeks leave from the club. So when the Powers season was over the Magpies still had about 4 weeks remaining therefore the club seen it fit to send the players on there leave and have the B&F night upon return.

Yep, having the players stick around for an extra week after the magpies finished would have cut a week off the preseason, there was no point doing that if not needed

Do reserves games count towards the b&f?

SANFL games count towards the A.R McLean Medal, the Magpies B+F, not the John Cahill Medal for the AFL team

Ta muchly, carey.

Just a query, though: Port seem to have been the only club holding their B and F so late in the year. Like Port, Collingwood missed the finals but their reserves side didn't, and presumably all clubs are bound by the same EBA, yet the Copeland Trophy was awarded on 9 October.

Are these separate awards, the Port Power players to the Port Magpie players?

Port are giving its members 4 gifts heading into the 2015 festive season. Below is gift number 1, and a nice little starter it is, too- our skipper (and a massive man crush of mine) signs a 1 year contract extension!

Much love Boaky!

http://www.portadelaidefc.com.au/news/2 ... rt-forever

Surely Chad will be the final announcement, I hope that Ollie and his management have agreed to terms also.

Lock these 2 away and it’s all I’ll need for Christmas!

Robbie Gray takes up the one-year option on his contract, joining skipper Travis Boak by committing to the club to the end of 2019.

ROBBIE GRAY is the second senior player – and Victorian – to commit to Port Adelaide with an additional one-year playing agreement.

He has signed until the end of the 2019 season - following the example set on Monday by Power captain Travis Boak, whose identical extension will mean the pair next come out of contract when they are each 31 years old.

Gray’s signing is significant – having just become the first man to win back-to-back John Cahill Medals and All-Australian selections.

With two stellar seasons, the only way is up for the man who only three years ago was ruled out for an entire season with a horrific ACL injury.

Gray, like Boak, plans to finish his career as a single club player.

"I know how lucky I am to be part of Port Adelaide, so to be a one-club player at this great club would be sensational,” Gray told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“It was only a few seasons ago when I injured my knee that I wondered how I’d come back - or if I’d make it back - so to see the club where it is and to have my body sound is really pleasing.

“I just want to keep working as hard as I can with this great group of players to see how far we can go.”

Some more great news. 2 quality footballers and quality men, are now locked away to become one club players.

I have it on good authority that one of our 2 remaining "gifts" will be Chad (no great surprise there- he was never going anywhere), but (dependent on the order) Ollie will not be #3 or #4.

Summerton for services rendered? Staying loyal?

What is the criteria for life membership with the PAFC, by the way?

Playing life Membership - 10 year and 100 games.

I'll look into non-playing, but I would think 10 years or at the boards discretion, like most clubs.

Port over the 46,000 member mark. Another solid number growing steadily.
