Rik E Boy wrote:A good hitout for both teams. Much was made of the Pies playing a younger side and it nearly worked out for them. They had the legs towards the end of the game as the Cats ran out of puff. A lot of the Cat players were VFL guys about to make their mark. A really tough break for Burbruy who will be rewarded for his courage at a later stage of the season even though it cost him last night. He's clearly moved up the pecking order at Cat Park.

Josh Caddy looks set to break out and Mitch Duncan is another who can have a massive year. For all the hype about Varcoe's second chance after he was offered up for trade, it was the same old Trav last night. Looked a million bucks early and then faded right out of the game. That 2012 injury seems to have completely stalled the momentum Varcoe had going for him after 2011. Horlin Smith, Shroeder, Guthrie (already made his mark) and Walker are all blokes who have made it easier for the Cats to punt Pods, Chappy, Hunt and Smithy.

Dawson Simpson looks like he could be anything. We really need him on the park. Not many are prepared to talk up Creek because of his poor injury run but if we keep him on the park look out. He looked a happy man at the end of the game. He got through one!

No top four for us this year but I reckon in the next couple of years we'll be right up there again. Beat us while you can or you might have to wait awhile.
regards,

REB

I'd prefer to wait until you're good enough to play us in a game that matters thanks ;)

I was at that pre season game where Crows beat North by 160 odd and he got the ass. Scotty Hodges kicked 5 to half time and hit the showers and my mate Tone came on and kicked 5 in the second half. I don't reckon North kicked 5

As a Lions fan I'm not too worried about last night.

We had the following from our best 22 out:
Daniel Rich
Brent Moloney
Pearce Hanley
Jack Redden
Tom Rockliff
Matthew Leuenberger
Jed Adcock
Joel Patfull
Jonathon Brown
Daniel Merrett
Ash McGrath
Brent Staker
Claye Beams
Justin Clarke

All but Brown and maybe Beams should play against Gold Coast.

Still, 130 points is a terrible thrashing. Especially in a preseason game where hawthorn aren't exactly going to be going for the jugular either

Happy for you that your not worried but I don't see 130 points of difference coming in. I don't see Brisbane in the top 12 this year.

I expect them to be bottom four, st Kilda and gws will be the only teams that will finish below them imo

I,ll throw Dogs and Dees below them as well and I have them around 13th/14th. Got nothing against Brisbane and they have 2 juniors from our club but I don't think they are on the way up yet.

Yeah, they'll only lose by 90 in the first round.
