All Club premierships in the VFL count towards AFL premierships. Also I choose to list all Geelong Premierships Like on my Bruins Tattoo I have all Stanley Cup Championships.

But not SANFL Premierships.....oh well. Double standards.

Agreed. Let's scrap the lot and go with AFL stats only. Equal Most flags - Cats. Highest winning percentage - Cats. Great move Booney. Doubt the Bluebaggers, Bombers and Pies fans would agree with you though.

Cheers.

Anyway, I reckon we can expect to see a lot of the Big "O" Orren Stephenson during the pre-season comp. I'm interested to see how he goes. Chump or Champ?

I think one of Vardy and Simpson is injuried, So I reckon he'll get some game time.

All three will get games this season I believe. Smedts is another. Other fringe Cats who will get games this year are Tom Gilles in the backline and Taylor Hunt will edge out Simon Hogan (probably the only Cat who can't kick) for the stoppers role.

For SC purposes Motlop will get early games but his JS will go out the window once Travis Varcoe returns. Out of all the players mentioned it is Guthrie who impresses most.

Hogan goes alright though. He finds the ball well, yes there is some question about his kicking, but he goes alright.

If you can't kick at Geelong, you're not going alright. Just ask Kane Tenace and David Spriggs. He's competing against others who find the ball but can use it as well.

Geelong absolutely terrible today. The Tigers kicked the first nine goals of the game and it was all over about halfway through the second quarter. Our boys just didn't give a shit today which is a real worry two weeks out from the season starting. Full credit to the Tigers who are fully primed to have a crack at a tough opening month in the fixture for them. Ivan Maric pantsed West and Dustin Martin was Best on in a sensational display. Cotchin was very good as well and Riewoldt chipped in with four goals.

For the Cats not much to report but Stevie J looked pretty sharp but Chappy was running up and down on the spot which is a real worry. The real heart of Geelong now is Selwood and Bartel with blokes like Kelly, Chapman and Corey really needing the run. The youngsters didn't do much better than the senior blokes with Gilles and Smedts making mistakes that lead directly to four goals. Motlop did OK once again and Pods and Hawkins were clunking them just fine but they couldn't steer the pill through the uprights.

Today was either a much needed boot up the backside or the first signs of slidetime appearing.

Wouldnt read too much into the Mickey Mouse stuff REB. We made the final of the NAB cup last year but were rubbish in the real stuff. Cats will be around the mark this season and we will see how well Richmond go when the proper stuff happens.

Like REB said though Jim, Probably not the result which concerns the cat faithful.....more so their stars looking rather flat 2 weeks out from round 1. But flags aint won in april....

After watching the game I think more is the worry are they switched on for Round 1, Scott seemed to do that nicely last year but some of the guns were firing blanks yesterday!
Surely they do not now rely on Selwood and Bartel?
I will be watching their game over Easter at the G against Hawthorn (who look to be switched on) so I hope there will be a big improvement by then.

i also think that scott even though not being happy with the effort was also looking at the game differently from game plan style
if you look closely, when they did get the ball, which was not often they used the collingwood style instead of their normal corridor rout
every time they got the ball they immediately looked wide
maybe a coach tinkering with a new style for the future when the current team of stars start retireing

NAB cup is total carp - like t20 cricket.

geelong will be there in the top 4 and that is all that matters

Oh We're from Tiger Land

Just finished my celebrations after that victory. What a win ;) ;)

In all seriousness, i can not believe people are reading anything into that. The only thing is, that maybe the Geelong kids are not as ready as people thought they were after last weeks win against the suns. Thats about the only thing to read from that game IMO

There's nothing wrong with Geelong's kids, it's just that no club can field so many at once and not have it affect the performance of the team as a whole. It's one thing beating the Gold Coast but it's another to beat a near full strength side that is arking up it's pre-season preparation because they have a tough early draw. The big worry for mine was the form of the senior guys, not the kids but as the old saying goes flags aren't won in March...unless you're the Weagles or the Cows.
