Lyon has handled this pretty poorly.

Ron Barassi used to be the master at doing that to players, saying to Stan Alves after a finals loss, 'the worse thing is you played so poorly in Stan's last game' so giving the player no out!.

True Reb, I almost got beaten up that day. I was wedged between two Geelong fans who were giving it to Carlton supporters. To them, our scarves looked identical and I got mixed up in the banter and a bit of push and shove before I had a chance to show everyone that I was on their side, not my colleagues!

Good career. I had no idea he had 292 games up!

But I'm also glad Geelong held onto him and we got Laidler.
