West Coast don't really need a ruckman at this stage either. I think a deal with Freo for Schammer would be a more likely win win deal for both parties.

would the Crows really want Schammer, has been in the system for many years now, is handy at best, lacks pace and isn't the most highly skilled player going around add to that he is very much one dimensinal, plays on the ball and thats about it really.

Best thing i can say about him is he wins his own ball.

Personally i wouldnt waste my time on Schammer

All your points are true, but I think given that all we have to offer is Griffin (who is also a handy at best player who's been in the system a few years), we can't be too choosy. Adelaide fans always seem to over-inflate the value of their discards at this time of the year - you can't expect to trade boiled lollies and get chocolate in return.

Schammer is definitely a bit of a punt, but I guess I am banking on his form improving with a return to his home state. I think he is an in and under player that would add some toughness, and could play as a small forward if necessary. We are not going to get any better type of player for Griffin I'm afraid, Hurn is no chance IMO.

could there be some kind of three way trade so the crows could end up with Angus Monfries. I personally think he would be alot better value than schammer and could go some way to replacing Knights if he leaves.

I guess then the crows could do a Monfries for Knights swap, i know the crows lose out there but your better of getting something for him than nothing.

im a big fan of monfries, very under rated seems to get a defensive forward roll every week but still manages to bob up and kick his 3 and 4 goals as a small forward, he has great hands and would be a handfull for opposition defenders after they have set there match ups on tippet walker and porpz. like what has been said Griffen isnt a great bargaining chip

I don't think losing Jonathan Griffin was a big loss.
The biggest problem for us is finding a replacement for him.
We haven't recruited too much in past years and I don't reckon
Craig will be keen on it again.
However, he may have no choice.

With Griffiths going to the Bulldogs,
Will Minson might be a shot?
He would be pretty handy and hasn't been a stand out player
for the Dogs so he might be within our price range.

There would be a lot of Freo fans eager to see Schammer traded as he is their whipping boy when things are going pear shaped. I personally do not see any value in him, unless he can recast himself as a defensive forward. Still, I do remember him carving us up one night at AAMI and getting around 40 touches of the pill. :?

Triple M melbourne have suggested Walker for Knights ,with Walker def leaving Carlton, but there is a possibility that Knights will stay after this weeks talk. This mob is by far the best radio callers and seem to be pretty accurate with other stuff they have said. Leave the local footy broadcaster's for dead

Minson is a 199cm ruckman, and would be a good choice for the Crows if the deal was right, He is not the first Ruckman of choice at the Bulldogs and did not play in every game as he was passed over for selection several times, not because of form but because the balance of the side was not right, when he did get back into the side I did feel that he played some really good footy. If Adelaide get in his ear and suggest that he would be their first choice Ruckman I do feel he would be a strong chance to return to Adelaide as his opportunities would be significantly better than at Footscray.

Minson could be handy but i wouldnt be giving up to much for him.

Not sure if Jarrad Brennan has been discussed on here yet?? With The Gold Coast taking there 1 uncontracted player from Brisbane he might be looking for a trade/longer deal/more money etc with Brisbanes salary cap issues. Personally I think he could be very handy in a Crows Jumper. (plus he likes to head butt port players  ) Thoughts?

Definately handy but where do you play him? I don't even think he knows where his best position is.

I think Neil Craig is right - the need is for some outside players who can make the most of the ball when they receive it.
I don't think we need another ruckman unless he is a really good one, not average and just handy.

I have a mate playing for the bulldogs and he said the group opinion of minson is that he is soft and stupid. Gives away heaps of unnecessary free kicks and always drops overhead marks because he always ducks his head. Can't say I have really noticed but I take his word for it considering he has given me Josh hill and easton wood in the last 2 years as dreamteam bargains.
Based on this I think minson is a hack and if the crows do need another ruckman (don't forget sellar and mckernan will be great to get some game time in to along with moran) then we should be chasing the big sauce from Carlton. His tapwork is awesome and his game on sun was better than anything I have seen from minson.

Crows have invested a lot of time in Sellar and IMO he can't be carried anymore. Not a true ruckman and he's out of his depth unless they try to settle him in one position but watching him last weekend in the SANFL, looked horrible.

He was reasonably good in the last few games for Adelaide though. I like him because he's not afraid to get on his hands and knees and win the ball, and he also goes hard at a contest. I think he deserves another year, particularly given the lack of rucking talent about the place at the moment.

I don't know him personally, so this is only the impression he gives me from watching him (which means its probably COMPLETELY wrong lol) but I dont think he realises just how good he could be.

Was terrible on Sunday because he tried to play for free's all day .. If he'd attacked the ball with the same energy he could have been very damaging.

Interestingly Ive never seen him do much at SANFL level, but I reckon he goes alright for the Crows.

Matt Rendall confirmed on 5AA they had spoken to Walker and that he was very keen to come live in SA. Rendall gave the impression though the crows had not made up their mind about him though.

I would have thought if The Crows wanted to trade fairly aggresively this year that Knights would really be one that other clubs would like and we would be able to get something good for him? I reckon we can cover him let him go I say.

I would be happy to give griffin up as part of a 3 way trade with carlton to get Jacobs across and griffin to freo with tarrant to Carlton. May have to include a draft pick in as well to sweeten the deal, perhaps a 2nd or 3rd round or an exchange of picks.
I think Carlton will be happy to let walker go for the right price. He doesn't fit a specific role on their list. He could be the outside run and carry the crows need which carlton already get from Murphy and Scotland. I would think the draft pick from Bock would be sufficient.
If the crows could land both these I would be very happy. Although we have had 7 changes to our senior list I think Henderson and Jaensch deserve promotion as well as possibly 1 more from Thompson, Schmidt and Reily leaving us with 3 draft picks (Walker would take a spot). Trading griffin with a second round swap for a third round and nabbing walker with the bock pick leaves us with a first round pick and two 3rd round picks which is sufficient I reckon.
