Ahh OK, I forgot the game starts 18 minutes into the last quarter, my mistake.

So what exactly is your point, apart from being difficult?

You could have been 10 goals up at half time. You werent.

We could have won it in the last quarter. We didnt.

We both missed many chances when having the run of the play.

If you want to be difficult then both are invalid, as you kick the first of those posters as a goal then everything after that never happened.

My point is that Port were never in that game and it was only blind luck (ie 5 posters) and the players out for the Cats that kept the scores as close as they were.
To bring up an "if we kicked straight we MAY have won the match" is about as relevent as "if Martians landed at Aami Stadium last night and all were super athletes and put turquoise guernseys on we MAY have won the match".
(Actually less relevent when taking into account the other side had 5 posters, ie they'd only have to be 1 metre straighter as opposed to being 10 metres straighter, it's not rocket science)
Perhaps a more relevent point may have been "if we had a decent coach, a decent captain and didnt have so many brain dead supporters we MAY have won the match".
None of it happened, Port are crap and can't even draw the same crowd as North and Central, get over it, the expirement is a failure, can't draw a crowd, lose Grand Finals by record amounts, have a bigger reputation for choking than Glenelg and are a joke, time to shut the blinds and bring in another composite side.
The Crows may be the "pride of South Australia" but the Powder are the "joke of South Australia". Should have played the old circus theme over the loud speakers when they were in full flight at times last night.
Choke-o should be brought before the AFL Commission for bringing the game into disrepute, the Port supporters around me were joking that if the goals were on the wings his game plan might have a chance.
That backwards sideways rubbish is bringing stuff all supporter to the game whilst embarassing himself and his club.
Take a leaf out of Mark Thompsons book who has single handedly brought supporters back to the game with an exciting style of football instead of this flooding rubbish that Port love.
Port are a waste of space and are sending the game backwards in the poorer suburbs of Adelaide.
That's my point Macca.

PS Not to mention the Port supporter morons telling me on the way out that the umpires were the only reason Geelong won that game and the grand final, looks like they have the same education as Choke-o, ie none.

What a load of crap mate, you are a true ......., how dare you say that the Port is a 'poorer suburb'.
Who do you think you are saying that?

Nothing said about the suburb of "Port" or even Port Adelaide, Port Adelaide wouldn't even be close to being one of the poorer suburbs of Adelaide, IMHO in the near future it'll be one of the richest suburbs of Adelaide.
(apologies if the area encompassing the docs are a different suburbs)
Dunno about sitting on a golden perch but I know how to read which you obviously struggle with. :?

What I would suggest mate is before accusing someone of saying something they haven't said you get a grown up to read the posts you're upset with. :?

Not back "peddling" at all, just point out that your accusation that I said "Port" was a poorer suburbs was completely incorrect. :?

You show me where I said "Port" was a poorer suburbs and get back to me champ, otherwise make an apology for making a false accusation.

I can only assume you're keen to get this topic off topic with the Powder's dismal showing. We actively discourage that here mate, as do we discouraged false accuastions.
Cheers.

There's a lot of football followers in the poorer suburbs and if the quality of football continues to erode (such as what the Power exhibit) then they will start following other sports such as soccer, basketball, etc. hence the game of Australian Rules Fooball will go backwards.
Its not as prominent in the richer areas as traditionally poorer suburbs (no matter where they are) have more of an interest than richer suburbs.
There's your explanation, awaiting apology.

Name these 'poorer' suburbs then and tell me how Port Power losing to your side (reigning premiers) by 9 points is eroding their following of the Power.
No apology yet......?

Name them?
I don't see why, if you wanted a truly accurate reflection perhaps look up the abs site.
I could only guess but I don't see the point of that?
My guess would be mainly the outer southern and northern suburbs? :?

Port Power losing by 9 points has nothing to do with driving people away from the game, playing a crap brand of football more intent on going backwards and sidewiays has everything to do with it, I was just as critical of Geelong about 3 years ago when they did the same.

Just to join in this fruitful conversation.

1. I have never read or heard that football is more popular in the 'poorer" suburbs. Would like proof of that.
2. Wedgie, you admit on an earlier post you were in the bar for the second half, so how can you judge how well or poorly Port or Geelong played?
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

A couple of years ago I read a report on how lower socio-economic areas were more reliant on sports for entertainment and had a higher participation rate.
From a personal point of view I've seen this in existence quite a bit too, I think its a pretty well known fact, just like you'll see more people from a higher socio-economic area at an art museum. Saw some stats on that too.

Fester, I'll forgive you for mentioning the mighty CROWS irreverently and in the same sentence as the Power only because you have the redeeming feature of being a NORWOOD supporter.
