Crows Delistings

Talk on the national game

NFC

Mate, most football experts said only the Crows, Sydney and Collingwood could manage Cousins, this tells me the club has a reputation for managing players with poor attitudes....

for the club to run out of patience with Darren, well the kid must of had issues,

being a Norwood supporter, you seem like you do not want to accept this...... maybe you are more angry that he may not be running around for the legs

Sometime ya just gotta do it...Hawthorn won 5 flags without Gary Ablett after they booted him for a disgraceful attitude and not being prepared to put in .......who knows what message that sent to others around the club who then were part of a sensational team..... Can't bag the Crows for this one.

redden whites, fantastic post

NFC, hundreds of players get enquiries

football is a professional sport and if the young lads like Darren rather have beers with their mates every week, well, than he can play with his mates every week

the kid had plenty of warnings and plenty of opportunities

Jason Torney gets delisted, people fire shots and acuse the club as having "No Idea"

however

Nathan Brown also gets delisted after finishes in Melbourne's top 10 in the B&F, and not an eyebrow is raised

both players play HB, both Players finished top 10 in 2007 B&F, both players past 30, both clubs make a decision to move forward by providing young players more scope... however, one club continues to be criticised for the decision

it is time to move on, these hard decisions will continue to be made by all clubs

SD difference between Nathan Brown and JAson Torney is that one retired before the end of teh season the other was delisted.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Nathan was interviewed on 5AA last night and altho he put a positive spin on it I got the impression it wasn't his choice to stop playing AFL (he said things like 'I can't complain I played 10 years of AFL', etc).

Sounded like new coach, new broom

Maybe it was just my read of it tho ....

Maybe ...... he didn't say conclusively I was reading between the lines

It seemed to make sense as I wondered why anyone would give up an AFL salary/lifestyle voluntarially if they are still fit enough to play?

I thought it might have been one of those politically correct, 'retirements by agreement' - new coach says he is going for youth in 2008, player realises his number is up and decides to move on.

Who knows? He spoke very well and will be a great pick up for the Bloods

I read it the same ... Found it a thoroughly enjoyable interview mainly due to how much of a good bloke Nathan sounds like - Appears to be a great character and congrat's on Westies on the pickup, always rated him at Melbourne so hopefully he's a great pickup for the Bloods.

On Pfeiffer, I don't think you can be critical of the Crows NFC ... I've seen Pfeiffer most weeks like you and there's no questioning he has talent, but so do several others in the SANFL that either spent very little or no time on an AFL list.

If it's his wish, I certainly hope Pfeiff gets another crack at AFL.

I have heard Craigy interviewed on Bock and he thinks Bock can develop into one of the elite CHB's in the league so looks like the coach agrees!

N Brown did retire before Dean Bailey was even given the job. He had a farewell game if you remember

Good stuff Crows.

They'll probably get take him as well. Pfeiffer has a bit to offer in my opinion.

Mate Pfeiffer will be a quality player. He has the athletic ability as well as all the tools to be successful.

Its his off field issues he needs to deal with though. If he can improve that side of things, no reason why he cant make it at another club. Not sure Richmond would be the best side for him to go to though.

I think Pfeiffer would fit in quite well at Norwood, would be playing along side a good mate, which might be just the thing he needs to pull his head in. The kid has a lot of talent.

On form, and his committment to using his talent constructively, in time he'll be delisted by the Tigers too. Potential is not enough - eventually you have to knuckle down and deliver.
