I heard both Tim Giniver and Stephen Rowe along with a discussion on SEN overnight, a replay of yesterdays segments and besides Gary Lyon I am not certain who the other was, all have said that the mail is that the Bailey Smith deal was done last week but not announced to the last minute in order to keep it in the news.

I'm not sure I get the Bailey Smith hype.

Apart from one good finals series, he's been insta-famous more than anything.

At the end of the day if you included all the draft prospects, players up for trade etc available for the 2025 season, the top 3 in any order is Houston, Levi Ashcroft, Bailey Smith.

Geelong has got one of the best 3 footballers available in the country right now for a pick in the teens.

Great deal.

Elite skills?

Kicking efficiency of 52.2% in 2023 and 54.4% in 2022

He's average by foot

F*** off with your stats and shit!

Probably reflective of where the Dogs ended up over that time, they were very disappointing with the list they had at their disposal.

I just think potentially he will be an A Grader.

I dont have any problem with the current FSA and trading arrangements.

As a footy club you want to attract the good players via trades, be better. Get yourself to the level of Geelong, Brisbane and Collingwood by winning flags.

If Brisbane are using five picks to get one player well that seems a fair compensation to me. Who knows what hidden gems they are missing out on given their best player was a 3rd rounder!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Not really - it's still give and take, it's not like the "rich" clubs are just getting all the top end talent and not having to part ways with something, or that the other club isn't compensated.

I think youre wrong here Bedge. No way is Bailey Smith only worth pick 17, bulldogs get shafted because he wants to go to Geelong and thats the best they have because theyre a high end team. If he wanted St Kilda Bulldogs wouldve got pick 7 for him. This happens all the time, Jeremy Cameron, Dangerfields etc etc

I would love to see more clubs say no deal to players & make them play another year if they're contracted like Carlton did with Bryce Gibbs.

If Dustin Martin does decide to come out of retirement, do Richmond get any compensation

8 of the top 24 picks in what's being touted as a generational draft.

Real opportunity on the night for clubs in the first round to split something up with them.

St Kilda the one for mine, with 7 and 8 they could split one for 10 or 11 and 18 or 20 to give themselves 3 inside 20 and Richmond, although stacked, might want 1, 6 either 7 or 8 and 10 to have 4 top 10 picks.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

So basically players who's contract is running out & wanting to change clubs could just say they're retiring then have a change of heart after another club talks them out of retirement
