Pretty much the same treatment Emma Quayle got when she dropped the Tippett scandal a few years back.

What did he expect?

Finally some good news on the sponsor front for the club and he heads into the heartland to ask questions of the new sponsor at the announcement. Funny, given he's a courts reporter that he heads to a sports presser to ask political questions. Time and place, pretty boy.

Plenty of us are in business, how many of your customers pay on 30 days EOM and how many of your accounts do you pay on 30 days EOM? In my industry 45 days is normal, 60 days is accepted, 75 you get on the phone, 90 you're nervous.

Having said that, I hope Mr Gutpa isn't full of shit and drops us in a year or two.

5 year deal right? How binding are these sponsor deals?

The terms of the deal aren't going to be made public, it's not so much GFG ( Gutpa Family Group ) sponsoring the club but Mr Gutpa himself, his own money not corporate money, if you will.

How binding are they? Like any contract today I'd assume mate, not worth the paper it's written on.

He did say something like ‘we are only days or weeks behind, it’s not like we are months or weeks behind”. I did think that was funny

Surely Mr. Gupta would've expected the question to be asked at least once given what's been in the news. It should be a pretty easy one to handle for a businessman such as him.

And the question wasn't totally irrelevant, despite the press conference ostensibly being about the sponsorship deal. It's far better that these questions occasionally get asked at an awkward time than not at all.

If a political reporter was there to ask questions, so be it, Channel 9 sent their court reporting Adelaide FC fan to stir shit, plain as day.

Kind of feel for the little pretty boy a bit, to be honest, he got thrown under the bus by his bosses.

Not the bit about who he supports, winding you lot up there, but why send the court reporter? They knew they were sending someone to stir it up.

Tom is an AFC fan. Still, I agree with Boon- i dont think it was driven by who he supports, rather directive from up above.

The London Times have run a story today about Mr Gupta headlined : Steel Tycoon Sanjeev Gupta raises fears by delaying accounts

"The steel tycoon Sanjeev Gupta has delayed publishing the accounts of more than 20 companies, raising new questions about the financial health and transparency of his fast-growing empire."

"Analysis of more than 40 of Gupta’s UK subsidiaries shows that about half have used an accounting tactic to postpone the filing of accounts at Companies House. In many cases this means the last disclosed trading was almost two years ago."

Spot on, I read a report recently that the average invoice is paid on 62nd day in the current environment, and that covered all industries including ones who pay COD and 7 days so if you are on a 30day EOM Id say average would be 70+. SA government pay 90 days for big jobs.

Im guessing the Whyalla businesses just thought cause he was a billionaire they would get paid quickly.

In a "smaller" regional city you would probably find accounts are managed more closely, people ring people not just one accounts team calling another and running into another road block.
