I think he's doing the right thing and should stay.
(That's Carlton and Essendon taken care of for next year. We only had one Malthouse to give away)

Back to Essendon, Bomber is in the box seat, he either gets the Essendon job if (when) Hird leaves, or he takes the Suns job.

Hird on the other hand, is damned either way. If he miraculously keeps his job, then he'll basically have the club and its supporters against him, and if he leaves, he will be rightly condemned for not doing it earlier. He claims that he wants to protect his reputation, but that has long been lost.

Edit : when i went back there it had this in place of James Hird has been sacked;

UPDATE: James Hird will be removed as coach of Essendon in the coming days, with the first stage of his removal having taken place on Wednesday when the outgoing club legend was given the opportunity to resign with a nominal payout or be sacked.

Chairman Paul Little said on Thursday that the board would meet again over the weekend or early next week to discuss the strategy going forward.

"The board intends meeting again either over the weekend or very early next week and we will then determine the strategy going foward but at this point in time there's nothing further to report to you," said Little.

Reading between the lines, Little has said we need to seek legal advice before sacking Hird as Hird has threatened us with legal action and wouldnt surprise if he has threatened legal action against board members individually either

So in other words Essendon are trying to get out of paying him. If they was to pay out his contract what could he take them to court for.

I find it interesting that Hird's appeal is based on the premise that the investigation ad the information it collected were "unlawful". If we accept that notion, then would a "lawful" investigation that uncovered exactly the same information, form a different view? I doubt it! So effectively it sounds like an argument based on technicality rather than substance. ie Ï wouldn't have been found guilty if you hadn't done this in the first place".

From Hird's Statement...

"At no time in the 2012 season did I believe any Essendon player was exposed to any supplement or drug that fell outside the WADA, ASADA or AFL code. Two years since the end of that season I still do not believe any Essendon player took anything illegal. No one has shown me any evidence that would lead me to believe differently."

If that's the case defend the show cause notice or produce evidence to the contrary. Pushing forward on technicalities to avoid the actual issues just prolongs a matter that everyone wants to see the back of & further evidences Hird's narcissistic tendencies.

From the EFC website :

Essendon Football Club has today resolved its dispute with Dean Robinson.

The Supreme Court proceedings will be discontinued.

Confidentiality requirements mean that neither the Club nor Mr Robinson will be commenting further.

Amazing how $800k can solve a dispute ...

This saga will end up costing Essendon at least $5M

Ive heard the AFL are paying for the Robinson dispute. There were whispers at the time that the AFL demanded that David Evans sack Robinson.
Essendon and the AFL didnt want Robinson going to court so will be interesting to see who foots the bill

Essendon 2014/2015

Everyone is sick of hearing about hird.

Please go away.

Your club is shamed.

You are shamed.

Essendon cannot afford a $10M court case stupid.

Maybe x3?

If you loved your club, you would just disappear.

Time to stop listening to your wife my friend.

Just my opinion, I have always had nothing but admiration for Hird as a player. Unfortunately for him right now he is just fighting for his past reputation and I actually doubt if he has the players interest at heart. I guess I'm glass half full, glass half empty but for me he has taken a full on assault to protect himself so he must stand down and do what he has to do. One just hopes he doesn't hold Essendon to ransom with 'unfair dismissal'. This is a farce that has tarnished our great game and it all goes back to him.
