Sheedy sacked!

Talk on the national game

Re: Sheedy sacked!

Essendon's chairman has come out and said the Pagan dismissal forced their hand as they didn't want to be 'last in the queue' to start talking to the new coaches-in-waiting

Interestingly he also seems to dispute Sheedy's comments that he had known this was coming since January. He puts it down to Sheedy's intuition rather than anything he was told officially by the club

Someone just posted on Big Footy (an Essendon supporter) that Sheedy has stepped down immediately, and O'Donnell has been appointed as care taker coach for rest of the season.

Looks like Sheedy is keen for one of the vacancies at one of the other clubs, maybe Melbourne as per story on the Footy Show last night.

Whilst I am not discounting that this may be true, citing Big Footy as a source is not exactly helping you GWW.

I have heard talk of Sheedy to Fremantle (for next season) from people who should know something factual but I still have my doubts. Although it would surely frustrate the cr@p out of Harvey if he lost out to Sheeds and wound up out of a job at seasons end.

Hehe yeah its not the most credible source. There does appear to be some doubt regarding the story, hopefully will be clarified soon. I must say though it doesn't look good for a coach being interviewed for a rival club's position 2 days before a game. Same applies to Ratten as well.

Hopefully, given that Essendon will be interviewing at the same time to replace Sheeds, that they allow him to attend interviews and give him the benefit of the doubt regarding his professionalism.

He had an interview with Melbourne today, and will meet up with a couple of clubs next week. Someone from Richmond, cant remember who it was, said that he would be happy to personally pay out Wallace's contract at the end of the year, and that Richmond should strongly go after Sheeds.

That sounds right. Safe to say he could buy the club if he wanted, no shortage of money there.

Watching the Footy Show last night it seemed odd to see Sheedy current Essendon coach attending an interview for an opposition club. I did wonder how his current playing list may have felt seeing that happen as to whether it would fire them up or have the opposite reaction of dragging them down. It will be interesting to see what the board of the Essendon Football Club will do if Kevin Sheedy is announced as the Coach of Melbourne for 2008 prior to the end of this season!

You'd have to assume that Sheeds would be top of the list for all 4 current vacancies + the potential vacancy at Richmond and that there could be a mad scramble to sign him up.

Decision proven to be the correct decision

I dont often agree with Mike Sheahan however this time I do

Sheedy and his club are paying the price for their faith in his favorites

The Bombers will finish bottom 4 for the third year running
