Are you convinced WC will want to avoid GE in the g/f ?

That will depend on what happens later in the season! They may not need to worry about it, or they may not be there themselves if the West Coast Illeagles players break a few more rules.

Four wins is a reasonable start, the key is to get eight more to reserve a place in the finals, yet at the moment it is still mathematically possible for both Richmond and Melbourne to make the finals, yet if they continue as they are that will soon change and clubs will soon start to be in reach of a garanteed place - hopefully that includes Geelong this year!

Pfft, one of those teams only just beat the Crows though, so that is hardly premiership winning form.....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I think its a case of damned if you do and damned if you dont

Dogs beat us (we are still crap)
Beat Carlton and Dees (Carlton were due. Melbourne had injuries)
Lose to Hawks and Roos (back to scum again)
Thump Richmond (anyone can beat them)
Beat West Coke (they were due too)
Beat Freo (they are bottom 4)

You can only beat who you play on the day. In the end, I would prefer to see Geelong playing like they are at the moment than put up with the crap I saw last year.

I think someone earlier this year compared Geelong to the Pakistan cricket team. Brilliant one day, s##thouse the next.

these apology threads amuse me

people seem comfortable in making long term assessments based on short term events

yes some teams are flying at the moment, the Cats are one of these teams, credit where credit is due they are playing some Fantastic football.......

But saying that Football is a great teacher, our footy history books will tell us it is dangerous to make too many assessments just yet...

Last year alone, the Cats started the year as the team to watch and fell over by mid season, while mid season the crows were unbeatable and was the shortest odds in history for the flag, but fell over, again Mid Season Freo was not on anyone's radar and came home with a rush, while the Swans went missing early and peaked at the right time to come within a kick of back to back..

Before round one I backed Crows and Geelong for the GF, not with any smarts but chasing good odds, History says top 4 teams should still be competitve and a team from last years bottom 8 will likely make a big charge.

History also shows you need to go pretty deep in to the season before their is enough nformation to make any creditable judgements, especially in a season that has started so tight and unpredictable

Geelong have a way to go yet, yet I think that Frank Costa and his determination to stand up for what he thought was right at the end of last season, has something to do with their recent performance. Frank Costa wears his heart on his sleeve for Geelong and its great to see him getting some dividends for it even if its early in the season!
