I thought it was poor form from Sam Newman and The Footy Show last night to make jokes about this serious issue

I agree with you MW but how classy was John Worsfold. His honesty was a refreshing change to the crap that usually happens on the footy show and his compassion for his club and players really was outstanding. You just hope his players were watching and realise how much they mean to the man and start giving him the respect he deserves.

Drugs are rife in sport.

Victorian racing[or in the country not sure]
In the last 12 months is is reputed that
20 track riders
10 jockeys
have been caught using banned substances
2 have been suspended for using cocaine

1 of those jockeys has the same surname as an ex Port magpies coach.
Another clue who was the singer who had that hit single COCAINE sounds like this jockeys surname as well.

What do we do with COUSINS ?
If we let him off it sends the wrong message
If we ban him, what about the other AFL players as well.

DEMETRIOU gets $1 million but now he has an enourmous challenge
If we banned all the druggies from the game, there might not be enough players
on each teams squads to play week in week out.

John Worsfold is a man with plenty of integrity. He was very honest with his answers and gave a good insight in the world that is the AFL clubs. I also enjoyed his description of the Embly Chick incident.

Basically Worsfold said that he broke up an altercation between Embley and Chick which was just verbal, but looked like getting physical. The next day, Embley and Chick decided to have a go in a boxing ring to sort it out with gloves, head gear and mouthgard etc, but, as Worsfold said, the boys were a bit excited and forgot to put the protective gear and gloves on!

Pretty stupid way to deal with an issue IMO.

I agree about what has been said about Worsfold. Last night on the Footy Show he gave a frank, honest response to all questions and definitley didn't shy away from any issues. It appears that he has tried all he can to help Cousins and the other players facing the same probelms, and is geniunely concerned about their welfare, not just the impact that this kind of thing has on his team & club. Worsfold was outstanding last night - put the whole issue in perspective in a frank, honest and genuine manner. I have a work colleague with a daughter battling the same issue as Cousins and I can vouch for how devastating it is for everyone associated with them, and how hard it is to manage and help them.

He didnt say he couldnt play footy though? Taking a look at his onfield antics over the past couple of seasons, mostly when he kicks a goal draws "some" suspision. and if those on the coaching panel didnt see the changes in his personality, over say a week then they must be blind and deaf.

How do you mean? Are you saying he was under the influence DURING a game?

I don't think anyone is trying to defend Ben Cousins' actions, least of all me. I feel for those around him - his family, team-mates and coach. You could see on Worsfold's face how hard this last 6 months has been on him.
