Ok joke in a group. Male and female. I hang around females in a sporting setting a lot, and what they say about men AND women in a sexual context wouldn't be much different to what Big Bad Barry said.

F**k me (can I say that?), the ivory towers are getting taller.

Absolutely, about the sum of it.

In saying that, I've generally got no filter when it comes to jokes but I did find his one very distasteful.

Yeah, there's some that you think are a bit rough, but that's about the end of it.

As Wedgie would put it, Gen Y'ers.

Huh? Why bring me into it? I didn't say anything.

I hope some of you guys don’t trip and fall from that high horse you’re on.

It was a stupid comment he now regrets, let’s not hang the bloke.

We’ve all(including those on their high horse) said things we regret afterwards.

You live and learn.

Too late, he's already paid the ultimate price.

Which is harsh but the only real thing his employer could do.
Whilst Hall isn’t the victim here and only has himself to blame, if it was anyone else but the tough guy we’d be concerned for his/her mental welfare.

No one’s perfect!
We all should remember that.

exactly young fellow

it is in my belief that such practitioners are also required to use their fingers for certain things, including urologists for males.

By him referring to licking fingers implies he was doing something other than his intended job. Which the woman didn’t consent to. Which means he would be sexually assaulting her.

Making jokes about that may well be fine in certain company - I know I’ve said worse between mates - but that company is certainly not the radio

The fact you think it’s ok is absolutely astounding

Im not sure where u read i thought it was ok

Do u still live with your mummy or something? youre being very sultry and feminine determined to see mr halls name dragged through the mud for life.

My partner recently had a baby 5 weeks ago

The week before the birth she had a stretch and sweep.

We were in the rugby change rooms before the game a couple of days after, 4 of our players are doctors, 2 are head wine makers in the Barossa and 1 is in a government job.

They were genuinely asking about the birth etc, it was mentioned that a stretch and sweep had been done to try and speed up the process. Now while no one referred to my partners exact encounter there was ‘locker room talk’ around how a stretch and sweep would be done, how much stretch is done etc etc while I and the doctors in the team educated them on the facts about the process was.

No one took offence to this including my partners dad who is the head coach, in fact when I told the partner about a couple of the jokes she genuinely laughed (maybe that is just her Northern Irish sense of humour) she added further jokes about the procedure (Expressing her disappointment Hugh Jackman most certainly wasn’t her doctor) Just as we also joked about me going to get the snip and all possibles during and after the procedure.

Now while I don’t agree with what Hall said on public radio and i can understand why he was sacked I think his biggest crime is misjudgement of his time and place rather than a deliberate personal attack on the Montagna’s or women in general.

Kindly take your sensible point of view out of this thread.

Barry's comments were rape jokes?

Yes mate. Maybe that’s why you don’t understand why people don’t think they are appropriate
You did.

Can those personally abusing other individuals please stop, I've deleted the offending posts from the three offending posters and the posts where they were quoted.
Also can those who report and complain about abuse not quote them and then do exactly the same in return, it really doesn't help.
Cheers.

I prefer sexual assault not to be normalized by public figures - there's nothing 'hysterical' or 'high horse' about that.

It was in a "locker room"? Well then, open slather.

Dark humour is fine, and people shouldn't be made to feel like rapists for making jokes.

If your minds so feeble that you think some jokes that are funny BECAUSE they are outrageous and grotesque will make you think rape is ok. Or that it's the norm, then you're the one with the problem.

Barry shouldn't have said it on the radio. He got sacked. Everybody agrees that was the right thing to do.

The part people disagree with is where people are making him out to be some sort of shit human being for a joke. It's words. That were said to get a reaction.
