Blue Boy

I agree, the fun is about to start, last two days plenty of names have been mentioned including

Playfair, Steve Johnson, Meadhurst, Jason Johnson, Solomon, Polak, Thorton, Everitt, Fosdike, Tarrant, MacDougall, Russell, Daniel Bell, Nash, Jericho, Skipworth, Faulkner, Briss, Gardiner, Krauker, Bolton and their will be other names not yet mentioned

Once the first one or two big trades get moving, this always seems to have a Domino Effect, the only trade I see not going through is Thorton, Carlton hold all the aces

Steve Johnson would be a good pick up for Collingwood or Essendon if he moves. He is a handy type when fit. Good for the Lions to convince Bradshaw to stay.

The Western Bulldogs have agreed to a deal with West Coast to secure key forward Andrew McDougall in exchange for a swap of their second and fourth round draft picks with the Eagles in next month's NAB AFL draft.

good deal for the eagles, a second and fourth round pick considering he has hardly played in the past 2 season

i was wishing the crows would of had a crack, 23yrs, 197cm and 97kg, he can play, in 2004 he had an outstanding year as a 21yr old

this will give th WB some firepower with Darcy, Aka and Johnson up forward

Brisbane Lions latest situation

Daniel Bradshaw (3 years), Justin Sherman, Matthew Moody (1 year), Michael Rischitelli, Cameron Wood and Beau McDonald (2 years) are all confirmed re-signings for the Lions so far in this off-season.

Chris Johnson has reportedly signed a one year deal, but I haven't seen any official confirmation of that. (Johnson is eligible for the veteran's list along with Nigel lappin in 2008)

Tim Notting (offered 1 year) and Ash McGrath are still uncontracted, as far as I know.

Akermanis has been traded for Pick 34, according to latest report, though nothing confirmed.

Michael Voss (on list for 2007), Mal Michael, Justin Leppitsch and Brad Scott have retired.

Chris Scott has been moved to the 2007 veteran's list, in place of Leppitsch.

Jayden Attard and Clark Keating have been delisted.

Scott Harding has been offered a rookie listed position for 2007, and the plans are, he will be elevated in place of Voss for Round 1 2007.

No trade. Ross Lyon has stated that Fiora is a required player at St. Kilda. Thank god for that. I'd rather keep Toby than have Fiora.

Yep Fiora is the most overated player in the AFL, Richmond drafted him at 3 ahead of Pavlich on a few good games with Port Magpies.

clubs need to be realistic, Hawks want swans pick #15, but they were not prepared to offer Spida two years

you cant have it both ways, on one hand you cant say Spida does not warrant a 2 year deal but we want a first round pick as a trade

it's time some of these clubs dropped the ego's and stopped treating trade week in the same as a footy match, negotiations are not about a winner and a loser, you need to work to a win win siuation for all parties, clubs and players

too often we see these big trades bottle neck the entire week and the result being smaller trades do not get through by the deadline, some players do not find new homes and ended up getting delisted

I believed their is a purpose to trade week but it is time to change the process

is Tarrant worth the 4 year deal and $$$$ Freo are throwing at him

i think not and it does not give them much room to move within the salary cap in the next four years, if tarrant does not perform and if it does not deliver them a premiership it could hurt them for years to come

McGrath may have asked, but there appears to be little movement in that regard. The only way he could get to WA is through a trade, given West Coast's and Fremantle's position in the PSD. Whoever gets Tarrant is likely not have room in the salary cap for McGrath, so something might happen re: McGrath, if and when the Tarrant deal is finalised. Guess we'll know at 2 pm today.

I wouldn't be so certain on Moody going back to WA either. Like McGrath it will have to be the result of a trade to West Coast or Fremantle. However the Lions will have a considerable amount of salary cap space at the end of 2007, when Chris Sciott and Michael Voss' contracts won't be included and Chris Johnson and Nigel Lappin move onto the veteran's list. On that basis, the Lions would be reasonably confident they can retain Moody. Moody wouldn't have wanted to lock himself into a two year contract because of that reason. Obviously a two year contract could be backended for 2008, but the Lions wouldn't be sure exactly how much space they will have due to other contracts. If Moody does decide to go, then playing regular senior games in a young side adds to his trade value for the Lions.
