You're right on the money there, good observation!

Anybody who knows this lad would be aware that he has an extremely level head, solid work ethic and is blessed with natural talent. His ability to read the play & bring others into the game will see him given plenty of opportunites to fill that small forward/pinch hitting mid role vacated by Ballantyne who looks set to move up the field.

Fancy getting a BOG in your first crack at the big time (maybe only NAB cup some will say, but hey who cares you'd take it!)

If you followed his progress last year through the 18's, 18's state, ressies & league then last night probably didn't surpirise you much... Every time he steps up in class he is up to it, he'd make a bloody good racehorse!!!

Well done Lachie!

Anyone who knows Ross Lyon means that he'll probably play 20 matches in the WAFL before Rossy names him as an emergency.

He saw limited game time against the Cats and managed to win a nice free kick off Mitch Duncan but didn't ice the goal.

The Swans went in with the best squad on paper but in the end the weather was the determining factor. It was 34 or something ridiculous like that just before the kick off for the first match. The Swans looked sensational in the opener with their talls looking pretty good with Ried leading the way and Morton also proving he might be an invaluable acquisition. Campbell (44) booted a few goals and looked lively. For the Saints they were going to wide and the standout early was the young Egyptian bloke Saad who looks like he might be a good partner with Milney this season which might put the heat on Schnieder. Lenny Hayes got through the game in his comeback.

The Cats won pretty easily over the Swans despite missing a few opportunities in the second half. Trent West looks set to have a bumper year for the Cats and young Motlop also looked the part. I have some doubts about Mitch Brown though he couldn't pluck his marks. The Big O was servicable without being dominating so luckily for us Mumford wasn't playing. The Cats had a zillion out but the Swans were weary backing up.

A rested St Kilda easily accounted for Geelong in the last match with the Cats being held to one super goal only for the match (score above is wrong). Ex Port Magpie Milera played a good game and Clint Jones backed up from a good earlier game with another solid hitout (I think he got 27 posessions for the night). The Saints were more effective against Geelong in centering the ball in more advantageous positions and they appeared to function better without Riewoldt. Another young Cat forward who did not impress was Kersten but several more decorated team mates were poor in their defensive action which would not have pleased coach Scott.

So one apiece it was but Sydney would have to be unhappy about not winning both with the squad they sent to Ethihad.

EDIT: Josh Hunt's tackle looked bad but it was the shoulder that hit the turf and there was no head contact with the ground. The Swan player (Smith I think it was, one of those blonde ones LOL) jumped straight up and got back into it so that is something else the MRP looks at. Hunt doesn't have a case to answer for mine.

PS - Goddard can play but cripes he's a ******* sook. He cracked the shits big time at Milney tonight and then had a whinge at the goal umpire later on in the game. FFS mate it's February.

Good review there REB. How did young Billy Smedts look for geelong?

Got caught a bit early but seemed to find his feet pretty quickly. A smokey for Round 1. I reckon Motlop is a player to watch out for if he can stay fit.

Ah i see.
The AFL website has a table and i thought maybe the top 8 go to next round.
Wasnt aware that 4 games are played and only top 2 sides go through to GF, no semis or anything this year
