I'll give you 2002, but in 2003 the lead up was all about how far Collingwood! Been there last year, beat Brisbane in the qualifying final, etc. etc. Fortunately Brisbane didn't want a bar of it!

2 things to note about this grand final.

1) It is being played between the 2 biggest choker teams in Grand Finals history, so could well end up in a draw, thus making it a double choke

2) Failing this - Collingwood aren't due to win their next flag for another 12 years

That's true actually now you say it

Collingwood finished 2nd at the end of the minor round, 1/2 a game ahead of Brisbane

Collingwood then beat Brisbane at the G in the first round of the finals. This forced Brisbane to play an away prelim final at the SCG which they won easily.

Collingwood had the week off and then smashed Port in their prelim final. Then in one of Brisbane's greatest games IMO they completely swamped Collingwood in the GF, at one stage being 69 points in front.

2003- very nervous- coming up against a dominant Brisbane side who didn't play well in the prior meeting, & had something to prove to detractors.
Brisbane's dominance started in 2001-2004, finishing with a GF which they limped into.
