AFL Fixture

Talk on the national game

The reaction in the West Australian was interesting - Fremantle are apparently going to be a gun side based their draw and the Eagles are sooking over going to Kardinia Park in Round 22 (suffer!).

The paper also saw the Eagles' biggest non-derby game as ... Round 7 ... West Coast versus Carlton! One-eyed goons, they are the only people still going on and on and on about Juddy (just like they go on and on and on about ******* Benny!) ... how about revenge on the Colliwobblers as the number 1 game? It was 6 weeks ago!

At least Carlton gets a good draw for once - 18 GAMES IN MELBOURNE - and one interstater in the first two months!!!

The club is hardly sooking about the Geelong game, have just asked that it is brought forward an hour. I agree that the Carlton is not the biggest "Non Derby Game" but it will create interest and thats probably what they meant. Plus you should know by now not to take anything from the West to serious.

I didn't mean to imply that it was the Eagles who were sooking but the West chose its words in such a way, though without a quote from a WCE official the tone of the article was trying to lead you in their intended direction.

I see Benny was mentioned again today - could the West Australian get a grip please and stop trying to be a Herald-Sun with their aggressive reporting!

Hawthorn's sponsor - The Goverment of Tasmania - is another who is not happy with the draw for next year. The sponsorship of the Hawks is based on 4 games in the Island State, with at least two games being against Victorian clubs, well ORIGINAL Victoraian clubs. This allows for Brisbane and Sydney to be included. The Hawks play Adelaide, Port, Bulldogs and Brisbane in Tasmania next year, with the lack of another Victorian club costing the state 1800 tourists according to Tasmanian Goverment.

That's OK now we have another club to bash

TBH, if you read my earlier posts I thought Collingwood's draw in 2008 was better from a fairness POV than in 2007

Have to say in fairness to you tho, as you pointed out having 10 of the 16 teams based in Melbourne will mean it can never be fair to all clubs. AND Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood & co are better off for not needing to play home games interstate.

I will note tho for the record reading Benwarmer's post, he is well aware that the Blues have got the good end of the stick in 2008 :D

Yeah not a bad draw at all. You should do well this year. New coach more priority picks, at some stage your number 1 picks will start to become quality players in there own right. Murphy will only get better and well Gibbs, I saw enough of him last season to think he might just make it ;) . Also add judd to your midfield and well you should improve on last season without any problems at all really.

Play on ol son..... Personally I would like to play with the idea of mid-week games for all teams in 8 of the weeks(less if you start the season a little earlier and ditch the preseason comp)of the regular season and have everyone play each other twice. The TV for 8 midweek games would be a nightmare though so its impossible .

I saw Geelong's Draw and I thought it isn't bad but No games at the MCG for season 2008 WTF. The AFL have no idea and when the Cats and Pies sellout the G For two of the biggest games of the season it goes to prove the AFL have no idea. Geelong wanted 9 games at Skilled we get 8 We will lose 600,000 in two games due to the draw the AFL has put out for us ohh well we will hopefully go back to back and make that 600,000 back.
