The Herald Sun reports that Collingwood big man Chris Dawes will nearly double his pay packet with a change of clubs.

The newspaper says the key forward could earn as much as $500,000 a season with Melbourne, his preferred trade destination.

Half a million per season for Dawes????? Seriously!!!!! The world has gone mad......

To be honest its hard to really rate him when he is never on the field! But what I've seen he is handy up forward. Nearly got the dees over the line against the pies in 2011 (from memory)

Nah I don't rate him either, see how the "change of scenery" card works if he comes across. Don't blame Dawes for taking that kinda pay if Melbourne are silly enough to pay it. He'll only get in Mitch Clark's way....

i think Pettard has some up side if he can stay on the park and in what is touted as a very deep draft, think collingwood win out of this trade. The Dees forward line would look dangerous and exciting with Clark, Dawes, Pettard and Howe up there, will take a lot of pressure off Jack Watts if Dawes comes across but if i was Melbourne i would be keeping Pettard and offering a Bate or or Morton type

This.
If anything id offer up pick 20 and both Bate and Morton, list cloggers!

Would love for melbourne to give up on Dawes and maybe target someone like Edwards from north, probably pick him up alot cheaper and get the same result from him.

Agreed, Edwards is obviously bereft of opportunities at North. Although a little small for a focal point in the AFL, his form in the VFL in 2006 while at Frankston shows that he could be an asset.
