I would back Tippett over Thomas, he is one of the worst kicks going.

I think the difference is that you know Thomas is going to miss before he kicks it.
His expression and run up gives it away.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

Whufc, I agree that teams are now loading up on the big key forwards I think as a solution to the modern presses where you have to just bomb it in to your forwards quickly.

Yep and as much as I hate the crows they have done extremely well to keep dangerfield, sloane and walker. Losing Tippett is a small price to pay to keep the other 3

I agree if out of the four of these we could only keep three and get rid of one, I think Tippett would be struggling. Tippett at 2011/2012 form would struggle to be in the Crows top ten players.

I heard on the radio people saying that they should let him go into the draft, thats dumb IMO. He could do this and end up at Sydney for nothing, GWS have said that they will take him, we will still get nothing. The Crows cant play tough when they have nothing to bargain with right from the start Tippett held all the cards, really Sydney could have said that they wont give us anything because they know that they could get him anyway. It sucks but thats the way it has fallen. The real mistake was not trying to trade him last year with Gold Coast or even signing him on for a ridiculous sum two years back, he was never going to extend past this season I don't think. I personally think Sydney are taking a massive risk in picking him up for such big coin, may not be right away but if he performs like he has this year there will be some disgruntled players there.

Apologies will be accepted
I apologise for not knowing your source when you didn't state one, and since I found nothing to support it on the AFL site, wondering whether it was the auld rivalry at work again.
Also, for not thinking of The Australian as a possible source...
(I noticed later in the day that it got a mention in The Advertiser, when I glanced through one in a waiting room.)

Kurt Tippett's playing future?

White hasnt shown a heap at Sydney but players have been given opportunities at other clubs and gone up a level. He doesnt have the potential of Tippett but Tippett is gone so it is really irrelevant comparing them now anyway. Sydney are not going to give up a player like Reid which would be the closest like for like and in the end they dont have to so White and pick 22 would be ok IMO.

correct me if I am wrong but the crows only have 3 positions left on there roster. If they except white then they have to delist someone before the draft in order to have the required 3 selections?

Only have to make two selections at draft because upgrading callinan is one selection

Considering he was a major target when they were going forward, he should have been scoring a lot more than he did, especially in a top side.

I just compared his stats to Lindsay Thomas, a small crumbing forward who is not typically a leading target, having D Petrie, L Hansen and R Tarrant in the forward line. So you would think Thomas wouldnt score as much as an AFL leading full forward, such as Tippett.

2012

Kurt Tippett
Games -21
Goals - 39
Av. goals per game - 1.8

Lindsay Thomas
Games - 19
Goals - 38
Av. goals per game - 2

Going by this, I dont think Tippets worth much. Just because he was the highest paid player doesnt make him valuable.

I certainly don't think Tippet is worth what he is asking but HH3 :)) =))
Without looking there would be a few more stat categories in Tippet's favour if that's what you base how good a player is.
The only stat for me is, impact player/potential match winner vs not.

My problem with Tippett is he is clumsy I've noticed that in a marking contest if he doesn't mark the ball he goes to ground too easy which may contribute to his marshmallow head condition.

My point is they're both there to kick goals. Comparing the two, their stats are very similar, and no one rates Thomas.

KT - 39 goals, 31 points Tackles - 32 Average disposals - 12.14
LT - 38 goals 19 points Tackles - 65 Average disposals - 12.26

The only thing Tippet did better was when he went into the ruck every so often. He averaged 7.5 hitouts a game.

Like I said, no one would pay Lindsay Thomas a million dollars, why pay Tippett that much?

Just an example to show how mediocre he really is.

Nar they aren't the same.
Tippett doesn't prance around like a goose after kicking a lucky goal getting mini-footballs thrown at him

What about contested marks, inside 50 marks ?
Thomas is there to crumb and kick goals. Tippett is there to present, take contested marks, bring the ball to ground, take the best backmen, bring other players into the game, play multiple positions and of course kick goals.
