They're scaring him into the possibility of going to north.
I think he'd rather stay at Port if that's the only option they're giving him.

I thought the deal looked ordinary for us anyway.

But he wants to get back to Melbourne is all we keep hearing. He hasn’t nominated a club he wants to play or not play for.
Sounds like he is just after a pay rise and getting back to Melbourne was a ploy to get a bidding war. Worse case for him is he stays at Port on decent money for a year or two more and plays finals which is a pretty good outcome IMO

Haven’t they already been given permission to use next years first?

Correct, re next years first rounder.

On his wage, he's reportedly got 2 x 1.2m remaining. We'll spread that over 6 years with the last 4 around 6-700k to bring the 6 year average to around 850k+/-.

Booney are you saying Lukosious and Richards is not an even deal for Houston?

Those two added to your list puts you in front.
Lukosious, fit and happy at home could be anything. Even AA.
And Richards will kick 30+ next year.

Houston would be an afterthought.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

Rioli, SPP, JHF playing forward and Charleson and Anastasopoulos are developing. Richards would be a depth replacement for either Narkle, McEntee or Frank Evans.

Dual AA in exchange for a bloke dropped by the Suns plus a bloke that can’t get a game for a side that missed finals.
Yeah, not even close to being even

The whole “dropped by the Suns” argument is crap. It was one week, the week he apparently met Nicks.

Atkins is the type of player that Port needs .

Someone who has played in a winning preliminary final…

I'm not Booney but I would rather retain Houston than get the other two, play hard ball and we could end up with all 3 for the right price too.

Not a fan of down grading pick 3 to 12 at all. I would think Perth based fans will be tuning into the local Rowey and going off.

Is Baker and Owes worth that down grade? I'm not sure about that.

Adding Baker does improve our team, he's no star in my opinion but a good player. Graham is depth, not sure what Owes is about.

Houston is never going to hold more currency than he does now. If we accept a deal that's unders for him just to move him on when he's happy to stay we're mad. If the right deal got us into this bumper draft to top up before Tassie comes in then that too is good. In the middle isn't.

Booney wrote:Houston for Lukosious and Richards - even? - Not at all. If we value Houston as 2 x 1st rounders this isn't even close.
Pick 13 vs Ports 2025 Rd 1 pick - even - Agreed.
Pick 29 to take on Atkins’s salary dump - even - I feel sick thinking about it.
Pick 36 vs Pick 39 and 58 - even - Potentially using 36 to get higher, ok I guess.

Yeah I wasn't convinced the first line is even, hence the question mark, and the word 'perhaps' in the sentence before.

Dan is a duel AA, and he's important to our structure as seen with our poor finals performance.
But then again, he's a half back flanker vs a tall forward, and I rate tall forwards higher.
There is also the fact that Jack is 3 years younger, but you could counter that by saying KPP don't last as long as flankers, so perhaps their lifespan isn't all that different.

As I said, happy we said no, but will be interesting to see what unfolds.

As we know, Ken is happy to get in players that aren't getting a game at their current side, and a few of them turned out ok this season (Sweet the main one), so perhaps there is something there with Richards, although I don't see it.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!
